Principal’s Report
School Production: The Addams Family
Congratulations to everyone involved in our outstanding production of The Addams Family! The cast, musicians and backstage crew brought the show to life with talent, energy and humour, delighting audiences and making it a highlight of the term.
The successful show was the result of countless hours of rehearsals, preparation and work behind the scenes. Students and staff committed long hours to bringing every element together, showing perseverance and teamwork throughout. Everyone involved should be immensely proud of what they achieved.
Thank you to the staff, families and volunteers who supported the production, and to the many community members who came along to enjoy it. Your encouragement helped make this a special experience for our students.
Japan Exchange Trip
Our students are experiencing Japanese culture firsthand as the Japan trip continues. Through daily life with host families and participation at our sister school, Ono High School, they are strengthening their language skills and developing friendships beyond the classroom.
School activities, including Sports Day, have offered plenty of opportunities to connect with their hosts, while visits to Kyoto’s significant cultural sites have broadened students’ understanding of Japan’s history and traditions. The warmth and enthusiasm shared by Brentwood and Ono students have been a highlight of the visit.
German Immersion Camp
For three days, our Year 10–12 German students put their language skills into action at German Immersion Camp. Speaking practice and exam preparation were combined with team challenges, games and cultural activities—all conducted in German.
Using the language throughout the camp encouraged students to build fluency and become more comfortable expressing themselves. It was also a chance for students across year levels to learn from one another in a supportive setting.
School for Student Leadership
Our Year 9 representatives have spent Term 3 at the School for Student Leadership at Don Valley, developing independence, learning to work with others and exploring how they can contribute to their community. Their polished presentation at the recent Community Learning Project Presentation Day reflected the growth they have made during the program.
They will return with a project to put that learning into practice: a student-designed mural celebrating Brentwood and our school values. A design competition and student voting will invite the wider student body to help shape the artwork, leaving a lasting contribution to the College.
HEART Week and World’s Greatest Shave
The Western Courtyard was full of activity during HEART Week, with student-led lunchtime events bringing students together to participate, connect and support one another.
That community spirit continued through the World’s Greatest Shave, led by our College Captains. More than $2,000 was donated to the Leukaemia Foundation—a fantastic result that reflected the generosity of our community and the willingness of students to take part for an important cause. We appreciate everyone who participated and donated, along with the staff who supported our student leaders throughout the week.
Spring Music Concert
Our Spring Music Concert showcased the progress our student musicians have made through regular practice, rehearsals and performance. It was a pleasure to see their growing confidence on stage and hear the results of their work with our dedicated Music staff.
The evening gave families and friends an opportunity to share in that achievement. Our thanks to the Music team, the PFA and all those whose contributions helped make the concert possible.
Sir John Monash Commemoration
Student leaders represented Brentwood at the Annual Sir John Monash Commemoration at Parliament House, where they explored Monash’s contributions to Australia through education, engineering, military leadership and public service.
The occasion encouraged students to reflect on the lasting influence of leadership and service. They approached the experience with respect and curiosity, engaging with cadets, guests and students from other schools.
Year 12 Practice Exams
During the upcoming school holidays, our Year 12 students will undertake practice exams under exam conditions. This is an important opportunity to apply their knowledge, refine time-management strategies and become familiar with the demands of the final examinations.
All students are expected to attend their scheduled practice exams and arrive prepared to make the most of the experience. Their results and teacher feedback will help guide revision by identifying what they understand well and where further work is needed.
