Junior Library
Students have continued to demonstrate our School Values in the Library, showing respect, cooperation and enthusiasm during their Library sessions. Over the past few weeks, our Story Time has featured a selection of shortlisted books from the Picture Book of the Year Awards. After learning that Once I Was a Giant by Zeno Sworder had won the award, we were excited to read the winning book together and discover what made it such a special story!

🌧️ Performing Arts – Foundation
Over the past fortnight, our Foundation students have been busy exploring movement, music, drama and storytelling in Performing Arts. We had lots of fun using our bodies to become spaghetti at different stages of cooking, experimenting with movement, tempo and rhythm.
Our final two lessons have focused on our Magical Rainstorm performance. Students have been developing their ability to use movement, facial expressions and body shapes to tell a story without words. They have explored how changes in tempo, volume and rhythm can influence their movements as they transformed into tiny raindrops, heavy rain, thunder, wind and a wild storm!
Students worked collaboratively as dancers and musicians, listening carefully and responding to the sounds created by their classmates. In our final sessions, they rehearsed each scene, performed and filmed their rainstorm stories, before watching their performances and reflecting on what went well and what they could improve.
It has been wonderful to see our Foundation students grow in confidence, creativity, cooperation and expressive movement throughout our Performing Arts lessons! 🌈🥁🌧️
Performing Arts – Level 1
Level 1 students have proudly finished filming their play, Voices on the Farm! We are all looking forward to watching our play once the editing is complete. This week they enjoyed a variety of Drama activities, developing their ability to create different characters and act out scenes without using their voices. Students have explored how facial expressions, body movements and gestures can be used to communicate emotions, ideas and characters.
Auslan
Our Auslan students have been busy developing their fingerspelling and signing skills. Level 3/4 students have been practising the Auslan alphabet, fingerspelling 4–6 letter words and signing numbers, while Level 5/6 students have been extending their skills by signing the alphabet and numbers from 0–100. Students have also been learning to communicate using a combination of signs and fingerspelling and developing their understanding of Non-Manual Features (NMFs) to make their signing clearer and more expressive.
