A big Term 2 comes to an end…

It is quite hard to believe that the term has already come to a close, however when we think back, there certainly has been a lot achieved. In terms of extra-curricular activities across Term 2, we have been involved in interhouse cross country, Japan Day, Mothers’ Day Breakfast, Raising Rarity project, Bulldogs Read program, 5/6 VSSEC excursion, Prep-2 Earth Ed excursion and Damascus St Brendans’ visit, just to name a few!

Within the classroom, all students at the campus have continued to demonstrate wonderful routines and learning behaviours. We have seen huge growth in our students’ ability to challenge their learning and demonstrate a growth mindset, particularly when undertaking new learning. Our students continue to strive for their best.

In the yard, we continue to see wonderful imaginative play. A strength of our campus is our students’ ability to play with each other, no matter the age or year level. Whole school hide and seek has certainly been a feature of our break times this term!

To everyone within the Scotsburn community, we want to wish you all a restful and enjoyable break, and we can’t wait to see everyone back for a jam-packed Term 3!

On Monday we farewelled Eliza Matheson, who has been in SC2 on placement for the past three weeks. She has done an amazing job and the students will surely miss her around the campus. As a fitting way to say goodbye, Eliza organised a “Camp Scotsburn” afternoon, with some camp-style activities and roasting marshmallows on the campfire for both classes.

We wish Eliza all the best in her studies and future teaching career.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our parent teacher interviews kicked off on Monday and will continue tomorrow. As always is the case, these interviews provide a wonderful opportunity to further discuss students' reports, as well as their overall schooling experience.

A reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday 24th June) is an early 1pm finish for students.

Friday Pyjama Day!

This Friday we will finish the term with a casual dress day, which doubles as a fundraiser for an external beneficiary.  Our students can’t wait for this one - a Pyjama Day!!!

The VOTS Team at the Buninyong campus has the responsibility of selecting who the money will go to, and on this occasion have gone with Fight MND.  To support this fundraiser, children are invited to come along with a gold coin on Friday. Woo hoo!

At last Friday’s assembly, we reminded all students to make sure to wear warm winter pyjamas as well as wear school appropriate closed-toe footwear.

Friday Last Day of Term Arrangements

Given that Friday is also our final day of the term, we will start the day at Buninyong for the end of term for the whole school assembly. As is our usual routine, we will meet in the courtyard at 8:45am, then head down to the gym. After the assembly, we will have a plant in the gym and head to the library.

After recess we will bus back to Scotsburn and finish the day in our classrooms. A reminder also that Friday is a 2:30pm finish.

School Concert!

Next term we have the whole school concert, which is super exciting! The theme for this year’s concert is ‘A Journey Through Worlds’. This week, Scotsburn will be confirming their act, which will involve some time for each class individually as well as a whole campus piece to finish.

The concert performances are held at Founders Hall (also known as the Caro Convention Centre) at Federation University.  There is a full day of rehearsal and then 3 performances (see dates below) in front of large crowds made up of parents, siblings and extended family members.

Early next term, we will be looking for some parent help for  rehearsing and working on costumes, sets and props.  If this is something that you would be interested in helping with, please contact Jarrod or Liz.

A reminder that the concert dates are as follows:

  • August 26th- dress rehearsal
  • August 27th- matinee and evening performance
  • August 28th- evening performance

Swimming and Water Safety Program

Our 2026 swimming and water safety program commences late next term. Lessons take place at the Federation University pool by qualified instructors and run for 45 minutes over a 5 day period.

More detailed information will be sent home via Compass soon for parent/carer consent, along with payment details. The approximate cost of this year’s program is $66 per child.

In the meantime, please see the dates for Scotsburn classes below:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
