Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) Reminder

Gallery Image

Parents and carers are reminded that all adults require a current WWCC in order to volunteer in classrooms and attend camps and excursions.

WWCC are valid for 5 years and are free for volunteers to apply for.  You can apply, renew and check your existing status by visiting https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ .

We regularly encourage volunteers in classrooms and on excursions. Even if it is not something you have previously considered, it can be useful to have, and we encourage you to apply.

Once your card arrives, bring it to the school office where the staff will take a copy and add you to our WWCC register.

Child Safe Expectations for Volunteers at Buninyong Primary School

At Buninyong Primary School, keeping children safe is our top priority. All volunteers play an important role in helping us create a safe and supportive environment.

If you’re volunteering at school, you’ll need to:

  • Have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Sign and follow our Child Safety Code of Conduct – this means always acting professionally, never being alone with a child out of sight of others, and treating everyone with respect
  • Follow staff instructions and school procedures at all times
  • Report any safety concerns to a staff member straight away
  • Sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge while at school

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe. If you’re not sure about anything or need more information, please speak to a staff member or contact the office.

School Policies

At Buninyong Primary School, we regularly review and update our school policies to ensure they reflect current Department of Education requirements and continue to support a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.

Our school policies are available for families to access via our website: https://buninyongps.vic.edu.au/

We value feedback from our school community and welcome any suggestions, questions or input regarding our policies and procedures. Community feedback plays an important role in helping us continue to improve and strengthen our practices.

If you would like to provide feedback or discuss any school policy, please contact us via email at buninyong.ps@education.vic.gov.au

School Policy focus:  Statement of Values and Philosophy

The purpose of this policy is to outline the values of our school community and explain the vision, mission and objectives of our school.

Bunjil Awards

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind. Well done! All of our weekly winners enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal. This process is always a great chance for us to hear from the kids and ask them some questions about our school.

Buy a Beanie - Wear One for Type 1 Diabetes

One of our students, Polly, is helping make a difference for children and families living with Type 1 Diabetes by hosting a beanie fundraiser at school next week. Inspired by her younger brother's experience of living with Type 1 Diabetes, Polly has taken the initiative to support other children and families affected by the condition.

The Type 1 Foundation "Wear One" beanies will be available for purchase before and after school on Wednesday 24 June, with a range of styles available for $29.95 each. One hundred percent of proceeds support the Type 1 Foundation, helping to fund support packages, camps, family fun days and counselling services for children and families living with Type 1 Diabetes.

We're incredibly proud of Polly for taking the initiative to raise awareness and support such an important cause. If you're looking for a warm beanie this winter while supporting a great cause, be sure to stop by and say hello!

Thank you to Polly and her family for bringing this opportunity to our school community.
