MORNINGTON COMMUNITY GARDEN OPEN DAY
18TH OCTOBER
Last Saturday was a lovely sunny day. Lots of people gathered to look over the vegetables and flowers in the community gardens, buy plants and vegetable seedlings or join in with the workshops about composting, improving soil and bees.
Naranga School competed in the Flowerpot Families competition along with three local schools in Mornington. We entered three flowerpot circus performers: “Mr Chuckles” the clown, “Mr Fumbles” the juggler and “The Pot master,” the ringmaster. At one stage we had eighty-four votes and were level with another school then later in the afternoon Naranga School received two more votes. All the schools did an excellent job creating pot animals, a dinosaur and circus characters. We all received books donated from Farrells bookshop. Special thanks to Gary and Surabhi, the senior Upcycling group for putting pots together and Tristan from Pathways who drew and painted the faces.
