Year 6 – Guest Speaker

We were fortunate to welcome Liam Twomey to our school for his presentation Be Fit, Be Well. Liam, an athlete with the Victorian Institute of Sport, represented Australia in the triathlon at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. He shared his inspiring journey, including overcoming childhood cancer and the amputation of his lower leg, and spoke about the importance of his mates, gratitude, mindfulness, and focusing on “the 99 things you do right rather than the one thing you did wrong.” Since completing his first triathlon in 2018, Liam has continued to compete at an elite level and encouraged students to set small goals on the way to achieving big ones. It was also wonderful to welcome back former staff member Joanne, Liam’s mum, who joined us for the visit.

“Liam’s experience was inspiring as he didn’t really start his sport until he was older. It makes me think that opportunities can occur later in my life even if I’m not doing that activity now.” Riley Z (Y6)

“From Liam’s presentation I liked how he talked about having a positive mindset and how often we focus on the negative rather than all the positives.” Emily R (Y6)

“I liked how he never gave up after missing out on being selected for the Tokyo games and his ability to adapt after overcoming a significant disease is amazing.” Toby O (Y6)

2XU Wellness Run – A Fantastic Community Effort!

Congratulations to all parents, students and teachers who proudly represented CSPS at this year’s 2XU Wellness Run. It was wonderful to see our school community getting active and supporting each other across the various events.

A special mention goes to our speedy principal, who completed the half marathon with a personal best, and to Mr Higgins, who proudly finished his first-ever half marathon!

Well done to everyone involved — a great celebration of health, fitness and community spirit!

CSPS Swim Trials 2026

Get Ready Over Summer!

With the CSPS District Swimming Trials coming up early next year, the summer holidays are a perfect opportunity for students to practise their swimming skills. Families are encouraged to see whether their child can confidently swim 50 metres in any stroke.

Students who will be in Grades 3–6 next year and CAN swim 50 metres will be invited (via Compass) to attend the trials when school recommences. The trials will be held at GESAC on Thursday, February 5 (Term 1, Week 2).

We look forward to seeing our swimmers prepare and give it their best!
