The Year 5/6 School Expo

Last Term the Years 5 and 6 students presented their science projects to the school. It was an interactive and stimulating chance to learn about Earth's geological natural disasters and some incredible facts about our Solar System. People were engaged and loved each and everyone of our projects. They asked many questions which the Years 5 and 6 students were happy to answer. Whether it was about volcanoes internal structure or what Pluto's ocean feels like people were engaged and had a blast doing interactive activities about every topic we had to offer. We had 3 weeks to plan and make our projects and most people teamed up with each other in groups or partners that we got to choose. We were studying for most of the Term and we learnt very important facts that would make a big difference later in life. Surprisingly, all of the people who made volcanoes erupted them either with baking soda, vinegar, red and orange food colouring, warm water and dish soap, some other people even used Coca-Cola and mentos to erupt their volcanoes.

Library News - Welcome back to Term 3! 

The Term has started well with Book Club catalogs distributed on Friday. You can access this via the LOOP at  https://mybookclubs.scholastic.com.au/Parent/Login.aspx . Every sale earns the school library 15% which helps us enormously. The due date for orders is the 31st of July.  This issue has a competition running to win movie tickets. I've encouraged the students to perhaps ask for help emailing their responses, there have been some great recounts of how they would use their spidey skills for the day at school! There is also a $10 Spotlight voucher for all purchases over $30. This may be handy for anyone getting creative in preparation for BOOK WEEK! 

Yes, Book Week is in August beginning on the 23rd and running for the week. There will be lots of activities (details closer to the date) on this during this week, culminating in a parade where we get to showcase our creations. This Year's theme is 'Symphony of Stories'.  I love the 'sound' of this, how characters, scenes and stories blend together like a song. 

Book Week is an important week in our school calendar especially for me as I get to talk about books all week! 

If there are any 'spare' library bags at home, can they please be returned, I had a stash for when bags are forgotten at home and it is dwindling. We do prefer the students carrying the books to and from school in the library bag to protect them so I'm happy to hand out spares, just need them back. Reminder that Prep and Year 1 is Wednesday, Years 2, 3 & 4 Tuesday and 5/6 visit the library on Thursdays.
