It was great to be back this week after six weeks of leave, five weeks being in Europe.  Not sure too many jobs have so many people excited to see you return to work.  Certainly makes the cold Melbourne mornings worthwhile.

It is interesting how many students tell me now, that over the school holidays they have been involved with STEM based holiday programs, like coding, game designs, building and construction.  Super exciting.

I noticed this week that there was plenty of articles in the media about the numbers of children under the age of 16 still accessing social media.  Having spoken to students at school there is a varying degree of what happened when the laws came into effect.  Some students were kicked off straight away, some asked to verify age (some got through this, some didn't!) and some students were not prompted at all to do anything with their account and still had acc.  Then there were students who said their parents took them off as soon as the law came into effect.

This is maybe a reminder to just check in with your son or daughter to see whether they are still on social media or not.  As our presenter last term said, if everyone is off it at St.James it certainly makes it easier for all.  Of course this is your call as a parent.  None of this is easy to navigate.
