Dear Families,

Week 4 already! The weeks are flying by and we are in the last month of Winter. The weather over the weekend certainly reminded that it is still Winter but Spring is on its way.

Whilst it was a bit chilly, the Southern skies certainly shone for Art Show viewing on Saturday morning.

Our annual Art Show has once again been a wonderful success, and we couldn't be prouder of our talented students. The exhibition showcases an incredible collection of artwork from every year level, from our Prep students through to Grade 6, highlighting the amazing creativity, imagination and artistic growth and talent across the school.

Every piece on display reflects the time, effort, talent, dedication and enthusiasm that our students have poured into their work throughout the year. From vibrant paintings and detailed drawings to unique sculptures and mixed media productions, the exhibition is a true celebration of our students' artistic achievements. There was approximately a 50/50 split between art pieces created in the Art Room with Mrs Eriksen and in the classroom with classroom teachers and LSOs. It really is a joint effort.

Adding to the excitement this year is a special surprise of a Glow Room! This immersive display has been a huge hit and has brought an extra element of fun to this year's exhibition.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs Eriksen, whose countless hours of planning, preparation, creativity and dedication made this wonderful event possible. Her passion for the Visual Arts and commitment to showcasing every student's work has created an unforgettable experience for our school community. A special mention to the staff on the Art Show Committee and the parents who helped with preparing the black boards.

MACS Funding of Catholic Schools 

There has been a great deal of media and social media interest and rumours regarding the future  funding of Catholic schools and the implications this may have on all schools. We will be discussing this at tomorrow night's School Advisory Council Meeting and seeking some feedback from the SAC on the various circumstances that may affect us at St James.

While there will need to be some budget alterations for us here at St James, there will be no change to our class structures. We will be keeping our structure of 14 straight classes averaging approximately 25 per class, supported with Learning Support Officers in the classes.

I caution families to be aware that many rumours will circulate over the next few months and know that I will keep you all informed once any firm decisions have been made.

MACS are also launching a campaign to ask for state government members to support Catholic schools capital funds and projects. With the upcoming election, this is timely.

We will be sending home information regarding this so please be ready to support this as a parent body when asked.

Sport Last Week

We had a week of sporting domination, with our Netballers coming home undefeated champions on Monday. They will be heading to the Regional competition next Monday.

Well done to AFL 9s for braving extreme weather and still coming runners up in the Division event.

Well done to our Athletics students from Years 4 - 6 who did so well on Friday in tough conditions. Friday's event helps us select the District Aths Team who will represent St James on 7 September.

Child Safe Standards

Footy Tipping 

The St James Family and Friends Footy Tipping Competition is hotting up as the season comes to an end. With three weeks of tipping to go the leaderboard looks like this:

Of Special Note:

• Lea is away for a few weeks from MACSEYE and Atily returns to work with Leanne for most of this time
• Tuesday 4th August - Confirmation Retreat for our Year 6s
• Thursday 6th - Subway Day - only pack freggie  and snack food if you have ordered Subway
• Thursday 13th - The Second hand Uniform Shop will be open 5.30 to 6.45pm while the Disco is on. It will be across the quadrangle near the flagpoles.

Congratulations Mrs Heffernan

Huge congratulations to Mrs Danielle Heffernan and her husband Dan on their exciting news that they are expecting a baby at the end of this year.
