Teaching and Learning

Integrated

This term students at Lucas Primary have been learning all about science! From building sandcastles in Year 1, exploring how materials can change, to playing with Tale Bots in Year 4 to explore forces.

Each year level organises excursions and incursions to support student learning, for example, the Year 2s have headed to the Ballarat Observatory to explore space and stars for their unit, the Year 1s got the dirt on soil in their Dirt Explorers' incursion and the 5/6s were treated to an excursion to the Werribee Zoo where they learnt about animal adaptations.

Week 6 was a celebration of all thing's science during science week. Students were able to experience a range of science experiments each lunchtime, using balloons to see static electricity in action, exploding coke bottles and keeping water in a cup with force.

We had four winners of our science quiz throughout the week, drawn from almost 100 entries! Winners were each able to take home their own science book. Congratulations to Bryan, Layla, Summer and Evaniel!
