Assistant Principal's Report

Book Week
Children's Book Week 2026 runs from Saturday, August 22 to Friday, August 28, 2026. The official theme is "Symphony of Stories," illustrated by award-winning author-illustrator Briony Stewart.
To celebrate at Albion North we are having the school Book Fair next week, where all students will be able to exchange 5 Champion Chips for a book of their choice, which are currently displayed in the library. All classes have visited the library this week to look at the selection and compile a 'wish list' in preparation for next week.
We are also holding a book character dress up on Friday 28th August, where students can come to school dressed as one of their favourite book characters. A whole school parade will be held between 9:00am - 9:30am in the morning.
There is a competition being held throughout the week for students to design a book cover related to the theme of "Symphony of Stories". A template will be provided in class.
We look forward to the exciting week ahead.
2027 Foundation Transition
Transition sessions for our 2027 Foundation students continue to be held on from 9:15am - 10:15am on Thursday and Friday mornings this term. The children are becoming very familiar with the expectations and enter enthusiastically in the mornings. They are responding extremely well to the structure which includes some handwriting, phonics, number work and reading.
Next term the sessions will be increase to 2 hours in length, with all enrolled students attending on the same day. This will ensure they are thoroughly prepared for full time school beginning next year.
District Athletics
Tomorrow we have approximately 30 students attending the district athletics carnival being held at the Newport Athletics Track. These students were selected due to their performance at our house athletics event at school earlier this term.
Congratulations to all students on being selected - we wish you the very best for your events and look forward to sharing the results with the school community - possibly at tomorrow's whole school assembly.
Parents/family members are most welcome to attend and support the children if available. A reminder that there is strictly no photography or video allowed during events.
The canteen will not be open so it is essential that all students attending have their own snack, lunch and drinks for the day. Hopefully the weather is kind - according to the forecast we are not expecting any rain.
Have a wonderful weekend.
