Thank You

One of the great pleasures about being part of a school community is the sense of everyone banding together towards a common cause.

And what better cause is there than the learning, laughs, smiles and enjoyment of our students (your children)?

There are so many activities that take place through the year that rely heavily on additional support from our community and we just wanted to take a moment this week to say 'Thank you' to all those amazing family members who contribute to making RNPS what it is.

PFA Events and opportunities to help out

The RNPS PFA is an integral part of bringing key school events and traditions to life. The end of last term was a brilliant example of this, with our PFA as the driving force behind planning, running and managing the Colour Splash Run on our Community Day. It was no small feat, but as always, the reliable PFA crew ensured a memorable event ran smoothly and safely for our students and community. Events like the Colour Splash Run help us raise critical funds to support students and resourcing at our school. Thank you to the PFA for their ongoing efforts in promoting the event and donation opportunities through parent communication channels. The event and fundraising outcome were a huge success, and the behind-the-scenes effort of our PFA team has not gone unnoticed. Mr Trend will share the impressive final fundraising results via Compass.

An upcoming Term 2 PFA event is the Mother’s Day Stall, another much-loved tradition made possible by the dedication of our PFA team. The date for the stall has been updated to Wednesday 6th May. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to jump on board and help with this special event.

Please consider joining this vibrant and dedicated group of RNPS community members. Keep an eye on the PFA section of our newsletters for more information.

School Council 2026

The following community members comprise our School Council for 2026. This group takes responsibility for the governance of the school, monitoring the overall direction, financial decisions, facilities and safety of the school. I am grateful for their experience, passion, and commitment to the school.

I wish to extend a special thank you to Scott Nixon, who stepped aside from the President role for 2026 but continues to serve as a councillor. Scott has brought a calm and collaborative tenor to all School Council matters as well as leading by example at Election BBQs and many other events.

2026 SC Members:

Staff: Ken Chatterton, Ricarda Lillis, Felicity Love, Belinda Nerantzoulis, Carly Wansbrough

Parents: Michael Stagg (President), Elspeth de Fanti (Vice-President), Andrew Willis (Treasurer), Karina Stocker, Mai Dando, Kathleen Mendan, Peter Payne, Darryn Embling, Tim Dixon, Sally Crook, Scott Nixon

Flourish with Fluency

A huge thank you to our newest group of volunteers who have been assisting students in Years 3 to 6 with literacy and numeracy fluency practice. This is a program that is unique in this format to our school and we have spent a great amount of thought, time and energy into designing. Kate Seyer and Chantelle Trend have worked hard to develop approaches and resources that are targeted, accessible and effective, as well as the training that goes with it.

But it simply does not happen without volunteers and we express our gratitude for all of those volunteers giving up their time to support students. Everyone arriving in the mornings and afternoons has been enthusiastic and motivated to have a chance to help the students, which has made a massive difference already to those participating.

Festival Committee

Saturday October 24 is our glorious RNPS Family Festival and, like everything, nothing happens without the input and support of many families and volunteers. We are at the stage now where we are starting to request additional support and input from families, but to get to this point now there has already been 12 months of planning by a team of dedicated community members.

Thank you again to the Festival Planning Committee who have committed so much time and personal energy and social capital to get us this far in the journey.

Acting Principal

Please note that I will be taking a short period of long service leave from next week (Thursday May 7 - May 30) and Jono Trend (Health & Wellbeing Coordinator) will be stepping up to Acting Principal in my absence.

We are attending a family member's 100th birthday in Singapore, which will be a very special event.
