Dads Footy 2025

“It’s more than just a game for us” - the words spoken by a number of the St Finbar's dads after the Dads Footy game against St Joan of Arc on the weekend.

The St Finbar’s Dads made a valiant effort against a very experienced St Joan of Arc team. But after the loss, the overwhelming message by the St Finbar’s Dads afterwards were about the culture of mates getting to know each other building bonds every Sunday for the last 5 months.

We had some amazing promotion thanks to Jase Hawkins on Nova100’s breakfast especially after being grilled by Jake Swierc, who apparently grew another 3 inches taller by Nick Riewoldt’s account after the match.

There was a lot of focus on the players but there were so many more people behind the scenes. A huge thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the day come together. They say it takes a village to raise a child and it’s amazing to see the St Finbar’s community band together over events like this.

For any Dads wanting to get involved, please join the Dads Footy WhatsApp chat - you don’t have to play on the day. The key is to get outside on a Sunday afternoon, meet other dads and get some fitness while your kids get the chance to play together. Updates on further dad’s events will also be posted here so jump on the chat:

Not only the dad’s had a ball but the kids loved the day - for those grade 3-6 players that took the field, well done in setting up the day for success. Pics of the kids will be in the principal report.

Thank you to the amazing Matt Skehill for taking some incredible pics of the dad’s match, we truly appreciate it.
