A Busy Start to the Term for Sport!

It’s been an action-packed start to the term for students in Years 3–6, with a strong focus on sport and teamwork! Our students have hit the ground running—literally—participating in a number of exciting events.

We kicked things off with interschool cross country, where students gave their all, showing determination and school spirit. Many of our runners then went on to represent St Luke's at the division cross country, achieving some fantastic results and making us all proud.

In between Interschool Cross Country and Division, some students also enjoyed the Downball Tournament—an energetic and fun-filled competition that brought out some impressive skills and great sportsmanship.

To top it all off, several of our talented athletes have been trying out for state representative teams. We’re thrilled to share that some have made it through with great success—congratulations to those students!

It’s been an inspiring start to the term, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings. Go St Luke’s!

Interschool Cross Country at Princes Park

What a fantastic day we had at the Interschool Cross Country held at Princes Park! Around 70 students from Years 3–6 proudly represented our school, taking on the challenge with enthusiasm, determination, and great team spirit.

Every runner gave their best effort, tackling the course with courage and focus. It was wonderful to see so much support anC encouragement among our students as they cheered each other on throughout the event.

We had some outstanding individual performances, with several students finishing in top positions, as well as impressive team results across multiple age groups. Whether running for a personal best or helping their team, every student played a part in a successful day. We had 30 students that have made it to Division Cross Country and this is a fantastic result.

Downball Tournament Highlights

The recent Downball Tournament was a huge success, with students showing impressive determination, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the day.

Our Grade 6 team played with fantastic energy and focus, narrowly missing a spot in the final by just 4 points. Their effort and resilience were outstanding, and they should be proud of their performance.

Meanwhile, our Grade 3/4 team amazed everyone by taking out the top spot in their section—despite playing with only four players! Their teamwork, quick thinking, and positive attitude were key to their well-deserved victory.

Well done to all students who took part. You represented our school with pride and showed what can be achieved through teamwork and determination!

State Sports Tryouts – Great Results!

This term, a number of our talented students were selected to represent the school at state team tryouts across a range of sports, including Soccer, Netball, Basketball, AFL Football, and Cricket. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their skills and compete alongside some of the best young athletes in the region.

We are very proud to announce that three of our students have progressed to the next stage of the selection process:

· Rhys Cowen for Cricket

· Joshua Nardella for Soccer

· Flynn Gemmill for AFL Football

This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of their hard work, dedication, and sporting talent. Congratulations to all students who tried out—you represented our school with pride and determination. Best of luck to Rhys, Joshua, and Flynn as they continue their journey!

Division Cross Country:

Our school was proudly represented at the Division Cross Country event today, with a group of dedicated students taking on the challenge with determination and great spirit.

From start to finish, our runners showed incredible effort on the course, tackling the tough competition and giving it their all. Just as impressive was the encouragement and support they gave one another throughout the day. Whether running, cheering, or high-fiving at the finish line, our students demonstrated what true team spirit looks like.

Congratulations to all who took part—you not only performed strongly, but you also showed the values of respect, resilience, and sportsmanship that make our school community so special.
