What's Happening In Secondary

Design Options Class

Recently, our Year 7/8 Design students completed their Enteric Pill Challenge, where they applied the engineering design process to create and test solutions that could protect a pill through a simulated stomach environment. Students demonstrated creativity, problem-solving, and resilience as they refined their designs based on testing and feedback. 

Last week, students started their exciting Passion Project, an opportunity to investigate, design, and create something based on their own interests. We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas, skills, and enthusiasm students bring to these, student-directed, group projects over the coming weeks and into Term 3.

Year 9 Beyond

This term Year 9 Beyond Tribes have been busy focusing on service. Serving others in the community and the influences and impact we can have on those around us. We have been partnering with Gran's Table and DCS Community to cook meals for people in our community who might be doing it tough or needing some extra support.

Separately over the last few weeks, Tribes have had the opportunity to climb Mt Montgomery getting out and having a great time together challenging themselves and building relationships. We are looking forward to challenging ourselves further next week as we head to Beta Park in Launceston to try bouldering. 

Student Market Day

During Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 2, the Business and Enterprise Studies class will be hosting a Market Day every Friday at lunchtime in the foyer of the 9/10 Building.

Students will be selling products they have designed, created, marketed, and produced as part of their studies. There will be a variety of stalls featuring custom house T-shirts, bookmarks, custom hoodies, and frisbees.

Come along, check out the stalls, and support our young entrepreneurs by purchasing one of their creations!

5 & 2 Secondary Breakfast

Our wonderful DCS community blesses our Secondary students every Thursday with delicious breakfast snacks, including a range of fruit, hot Milos, toasties, and drinks. This is a lovely way for students to start their day well, enjoying fresh food, and is now held in the new Secondary building!

 All Secondary students are warmly invited, we’d love to see you there!

Time: 8:05am – 8:25am, every Thursday during school terms.
