Year 2

Mad About Science Incursion
The students had a wonderful time with Mad About Science. Their workshop focussed on solids, liquids and gases. They learned about liquid nitrogen, saw frozen bubbles and even made elephant toothpaste. It was lovely to see the students in awe whilst they delighted in the explosive experiments. Some student reflections are below:
I liked the elephant toothpaste because it was really colourful. I liked when they put the balloon in the liquid nitrogen because when they blew on it, it blew back up.
Gracie
My favourite part was when they smashed the little rubber ducky because he exploded like very big. I liked when the person blew a balloon from the outside and the elephant toothpaste. I thought they would get splashed.
Dia
I liked when Adrian blew in the nitrogen. It was very funny.
Ezra
It was fun. I liked it. It was exciting. It was loud because of the explosion.
Timo
It was so much fun. I learned a lot of things.
Shiu
I liked how Doggy McDoggy got slim and then bigger. It was fun when the duck got smashed into pieces.
Aahanyan
I liked it when you put the stuff in it and twisted it, then put a match in it and BOOM! It exploded. I liked when the lid got shot off. It was funny.

2H SRL Incursion
The Year 2s were excited to have the SRL (Suburban Rail Loop) team and our local MP, Matt Fregon, come and visit on Thursday 26 June. The children had the very important job of having to name one of the eight TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines) after a famous and influential Victorian woman from history. It was a close vote, but the winner was BICH CAM. We learned that the TBMs only move one metre a day! The children had to write their name on a piece of paper and a special artwork will be created using their names, and will decorate the TBM.
The SRL team first visited these children in Prep in 2023 and this was a return visit to share more information and make a short video. These children will be among the first to ride the SRL to work and university when it opens in 10 years time.
The highlight of the event was getting dressed in white hard hats and orange hi vis vests and having a turn up on the excavator.
