Year 6 Inter-School Sport
Today I had the pleasure of supervising AFL 9's in the last round of Inter-School Sport (ISS). I was then sent the below email from the lovely teacher from Burwood East P.S.
From the EHPS students:
Today, during ISS AFL 9’s we played Burwood East PS. In the first half it was very one sided towards Essex. In the second half, the teachers and umpire decided to combine the teams and make new teams. One team had purple sashes and the other team was plain. So now we had kids from BEPS and Essex on the same teams. John the umpire, had a good understanding of how to match up the players. This meant that everybody who didn’t get a touch could now be involved in the game. By doing this everyone had lots of fun and it was a great way to end the term with an fair and fun match.
We emphasised to the students that it was a great way to celebrate the end of term and their last ever game of ISS at primary school. We went from seeing the opposition standing around talking to each other to everyone actively participating and having fun in the sun. A great way to model inclusion and respect.
From the BEPS teacher:
I also wanted to say thank you to the EHPS AFL 9’s team for allowing both teams to join together and finish the match. As you can see from the score it was very one sided and allowing the teams to combine meant that in the second half all of the students were involved. Can you also please say thank you to the parent who umpired and also coached the BEPS team.
Have a happy and safe break everyone. Stay well and active!!

Girls' Soccer Gala Day
Selected Year 6 girls represented EHPS competing at the Monash Heights District Girls' Soccer Gala Day on Wednesday 18 June at Brentwood Reserve in Glen Waverley. This was a day of round-robin matches, where the teams were provided the opportunity to participate in a competitive sports environment.
Girls Soccer Gala Day was an extremely fun packed day of soccer. Although we didn't win all the games we still had a lot of fun playing against other schools. Thank you to all the teachers for organising this and helping kids gain interest in soccer. Zara, 6D
We all had so much fun playing soccer with the other schools and we all learnt something new. Sadly A and B teams didn't make it to Division but that doesn't matter because we had fun playing and that's all that mattered to us. Elena, 6D
