Bullying No Way Week!

This year’s theme is Small Acts - Big Impacts focussing on the message that our actions don’t need to be big to change someone’s world. Small actions can create meaningful change.

Preventing bullying is everyone’s responsibility, and small acts can make a real difference. Small actions – like including someone, speaking up or showing kindness – can create meaningful change.

This Bullying No Way Week, we’re asking students, schools, families and communities to engage in small acts that can have a big impact against bullying.

This week our students have been discussing how we can help others and show kindness.  Some of the activities they have participated in included attending a Kids Helpline webinar focussing on preventing bullying and creating posters of what makes a good friend and how to be a HHPS Upstander. We ran an additional lunch time engagement club where students got to colour in and distribute a “kindness card” to a friend, teacher or family member.

Our Friendship Tree

We are also creating a friendship tree which will be displayed in the resource centre.  This Friendship Tree will represent our school’s shared commitment to building a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community where everyone belongs. Each student and staff member will write what kindness is, an act of kindness, their name or what makes a good friend.  We will add over 900 leaves to the tree over the next week! We look forward to sharing with you our completed tree in our next newsletter.
