Confirmation 2025

Combined Parish Schools Confirmation Pilgrimage

As 2025 is the Jubilee year for Catholics and its theme 'Pilgrims of Hope', the students preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation went on a special 'pilgrimage' to the Catholic Precinct of Melbourne, with students also currently preparing for this special moment in their faith journey from St Francis Xavier and St John's and also Father Michael.

The day began with a guided tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral by David Schutz. It concluded with a visit to the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre, where we learnt about the sacrament of Confirmation and how St. Mary of the Cross embodied the gifts of the Holy Spirit in her life.

Please enjoy this recount by our students;

On the 9th of October, the confirmation students went on a bus with confirmation students from other schools to St Patrick's Cathedral and the Mary Macillop Museum. It took a 1-hour bus ride to get to Melbourne and then we got a tour of the cathedral outside and inside. We learned that it took 3 attempts to build the cathedral; the construction started in 1858 and ended in 1939.

When we went insid,e we found out that some of the bishops were buried underground where we were standing. After that, we went to the Mary MacKillop Museum to learn about her and met up with a lady who taught us about Mary MacKillop's life. We also looked around in the museum and found lots of interesting stuff, like her wheelchair she used when she was sick and even a piece of her hair in a cross. It was a really fun day and a great experience.

Grade 5 - St Carlo Acutis

The grade five students have been learning about St Carlo Acutis.

St Carlo was recently canonised on September 7th by Pope Leo and is the first 'millennial' saint. Despite living with leukaemia, which took his life at just 15 years, Carlo dedicated his life to the Eucharist and used his interest in computers, programming and video games to promote Catholic devotion. He has been named as the patron saint of the internet.

Mission Sunday - October 19th

Last Sunday was Mission Sunday in the Catholic Faith. Please watch Pope Leo XIV's Message for World Mission Sunday. In his heartfelt address, he reflects on his own missionary journey and the transformative power of faith and generosity. “When I served as a missionary priest and bishop in Peru, I saw first-hand how the faith, prayer and generosity shown on World Mission Sunday can transform entire communities,” shared Pope Leo XIV in his message.

Our Grade 5/6 students are busy planning their Market for Missions scheduled for later this term. The market will raise funds to support Caritas.
