ATHLETICS

Seventy-three students represented St Louis at the Chelsea District Athletics Carnival on Friday. It was a great day, with sunny skies and our athletes trained to the minute to be at their best out on the track.

Many thanks to Brendan, Pauline, Kellie and Julia for their support of our students. A big thank you also to the parents who came along and barracked for all of us. I would especially like to thank Sabina for training our relay teams on Monday afternoons.

The results are yet to be confirmed, but we expect a number of students to qualify for the next stage.

SPORTS TOPS

To all students who have football top, could you please wash it and return it to school.

If you have an athletics top and are not competing in the District event, could you please also return it to school.

FOOTY DAY

On Friday, we celebrate all things “footy”.

Whether your team is the Richmond Tigers, Leeds United, Denver Broncos, Melbourne Storm, the Wallabies or Kerry, wear your colours and celebrate the fact that footy, in all its guises, is great fun to play.

All codes have an underlying premise — it is all about fun and friends.

SPORT IN GENERAL

On Saturday, I went to watch Mordialloc play in a grand final. They lost.

But I went along with a mate because his son was playing. We met through footy 40 years ago. Yes, it would have been great to celebrate a flag, but instead we sat back with others and enjoyed the sun, the game and the banter.

Despite the loss, it was a great afternoon because weekend sport connects people, no matter what ability we have.
