Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to what will hopefully be a warm and sunny term. Thank you to all of those parents who ensured their child has a hat ready for term four. Last week I think was the best first week of hats I can remember with the vast majority ready from day one. Our challenge now is to keep that momentum all term.
Another focus for this term will be on reducing the number of students coming late each day. Whilst the bulk of students are here on time, there seems to be a growing number of students each day who are late, even by a few minutes. If that is your child, please send them off five minutes earlier so they are here ready for the bell rather than arriving afterwards. It is frustrating for the teachers, and disruptive for the other students in the class.
There is only a few weeks now until our magnificent art show, and what a show it looks to be. The students have been preparing art works for many months and Mrs Wilson has a show jam-packed with events. The canteen will be selling Italian inspired dinner for families, local secondary schools with have musicians playing, and community artists will be showcasing their work.
Dozens of families have already purchased their ticket, and I encourage you to do the same. To make things easier this year, there is one ticket price per family which can be paid at the office, or via Xuno. Please encourage grandparents, family and friends to come along to what will be a great event.
As we have done for several years now, the Friday and Monday directly before the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday will be pupil free giving the children a nice five day break in the middle of the term. Please be sure to mark these days in your diary. Staff will be working on the Friday and Monday, and TheirCare will be available, however the school will be closed on Melbourne Cup Day itself.
Finally, a reminder to our school community that government schools are not public places, and there is no general right for members of the public to enter school grounds. The Department of Education’s Trespass Policy confirms that the Minister for Education has the authority to determine who may enter and remain on school land, with principals authorised to permit or deny entry. Parents, carers and visitors are welcome at school when appropriately authorised; however, all visitors are expected to follow school procedures, sign in at the office and comply with reasonable directions from school staff regarding access to school grounds.
Kind regards
