Interhouse Athletics Carnival

Our Interhouse Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day of competition, camaraderie and House spirit. Students gave their all across a range of track and field events, demonstrating determination, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

Congratulations to Stirling House, which claimed the overall carnival victory, and to O'Connor House, which proudly took home the House Spirit Shield.

A group of music students visited the residents of RAAFA to perform the ‘Morning Melodies Concert’ alongside ensemble directors Mr Snowsill, Ms Buss, Mr Evans, Mr Wallace and Ms Loy.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performances, and we received many lovely comments about the students' behaviour, musical talent and presentation. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their music with the community.

Well done to all the students involved, particularly the Senior Wind Ensemble, Brass Sextet and Junior String Quartet, for representing the College so positively. We are very proud of you all!

On the recent student free day, Guarneri Strings had the wonderful privilege of participating in a special rehearsal with acclaimed violinist Shaun Lee-Chen, Concertmaster of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Artist in Residence at UWA.

The rehearsal focused on Guarneri’s repertoire for the upcoming Reverie concert, a work from the Baroque era, a period of music in which Shaun specialises. Students gained valuable insights into historically informed performance practice, musical style and interpretation, working closely with Shaun to develop their understanding and performance of the piece.

As Shaun regularly performs and tours throughout Australia, we were particularly fortunate that he was able to make time in his busy schedule to work with our students. It was a wonderful and inspiring experience for Guarneri Strings, and we look forward to sharing the results of their hard work at Reverie next week!
