Meet our Specialist Teachers for 2026

STEM with Lauren & Alex

Lauren joined CGPS in Term 4 of 2024 and this year teaches STEM to Grade 1 and Years 3–6. With over 17 years of teaching experience (including working at the Melbourne Zoo and as a secondary Science and VCE Biology teacher), she has a serious love of science… and a not-so-serious obsession with weird and wacky animals. Lauren believes learning should be full of curiosity, questions, and a whole lot of fun, and she loves helping students discover how amazing the world around them is. When she’s not at school, she’s usually outside adventuring with her two young sons and her cheeky furbaby, Pepe.

Alex is excited to be returning to CGPS this year after taking some time to welcome two children into her family. She is the STEM teacher for Prep and Grade Two and is passionate about inspiring curiosity and creativity in young learners. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading picture story books, experimenting with science alongside her son, and spending time with her family and two cuddle monster puppies, Teddy and Angus. She is looking forward to exploring all things STEM in 2026.

Art with Genevieve

Genevieve is the Art Teacher at CGPS., returning to the classroom after maternity leave. She brings with her many years of teaching experience at CGPS, including previoulsy leading the Art program from 2014 for over four years. Passionate about the Arts, Genevieve also took time away from teaching to further her studies in Visual Arts at RMIT University. Now back in the Art room, she is excited to reconnect with students and embrace all the creativity, fun and mess that comes with making art. Outside of school, she loves spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals and wandering through farmers markets.

Music with Charlotte

Charlotte has joined CGPS this year as the music teacher. After teaching in the classroom and taking time away to have a baby, Charlotte has returned to schools to bring her background in music and love of teaching together. At her previous schools, Charlotte has been involved in State School Spectaculars, school choirs and whole school productions, all whilst teaching years 3 and 5/6. Outside of teaching, Charlotte has written and released an EP of her own original music, sung in multiple choirs, as a backup singer in the State School Spectacular, the lead in a musical, and performed in a band at many shows and festivals. Beyond school and music, Charlotte loves exploring the big wide world with her husband, son and furbaby.

Physical Education with Curtis and Megan

Curtis is teaching the Prep and Years 1,2 and 3 students for PE in 2026. He had so much fun teaching PE last year and is so keen for another year of literal fun and games. He enjoys (possibly not the right word) marathon running, giving his baby and 2 dogs lots of cuddles, cooking, listening to podcasts and watching the mighty Tigers play in the footy. He loves hearing about all the cool things his students are up to, so when you see him on yard duty let him know what sports you like to play outside of school.

Megan will be teaching the Year 4 and Year 5/6 students for PE in 2026. She is super excited to be back teaching PE again and joining in on the fun! Megan has always enjoyed being active and has a background of playing AFL, competing in powerlifting competitions, running half marathons and dancing. She is a crazy North Melbourne supporter and she can get very competitive at times. Outside of school, Megan spends lots of time outdoors with her family and sausage dog named Willow.
