Pancake Tuesday is a special day that comes right before Lent begins. A long time ago, families would use up ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter by making pancakes together. It was a fun way to get ready for the simpler season of Lent. Today, Pancake Tuesday is still a great chance for us to gather as a school community, enjoy some yummy pancakes, and prepare for the journey toward Easter.

Thank you to Year 5 and Fr Phil for leading us so beautifully in our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a special season in the Catholic Church. On this day, Catholics receive ashes on their foreheads as a sign of turning back to God and choosing to live with kindness, humility, and love. Lent lasts for forty days and symbolises the time Jesus spent praying in the desert. It’s a time for reflection, prayer, and doing good for others as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

I warmly invite all families to join us this Saturday at 5:30pm for our Term 1 Family Mass. It’s a special opportunity for our school community to come together in prayer, celebrate our faith, and share in the spirit of welcome and belonging. We hope you can join us as we gather as one community.

This year, our Holy Week Liturgy will take place in Week 10 on Thursday 2nd April at 2pm. All classes will present their item that afternoon. Notes will go home in the next couple of weeks regarding costume requirements for each class.
God of endless kindness and mercy,
Open our hearts in this time of Lent.
Give us courage to look at our lives with honesty;
Give us strength to deal with what we find;
Help us to forgive ourselves and each other,
so that we may return to you with all our hearts
Amen
