Principal's Report

Beyond the Line

This week, our school welcomed 10 initial teacher education students from the Sydney metropolitan area, showcasing our school and the opportunities for teaching and working outside of Sydney. The teachers are currently enrolled a universities across Sydney and are visiting local schools in Armidale, Uralla, Guyra, Inverell and Tamworth. It was wonderful to show the group how we work in a small community and how a "Central School" is so very different to other settings such as a primary or secondary setting.  Thank you to our staff and students for making our visitors so welcome.

School Photo Catch Up Day

We have secured a catch up day for any students who were unable to get their school photo taken last week.  This day will be on Friday 1 May (Week 2 Term 2).  All students in Academy will also get their class photos with their new jerseys.  This will mean that Academy student photos will arrive a few weeks after the other classes.  If your child needs to have their photo taken, please ensure they are in full school uniform on the day.

Introducing the Revised Student Code of Conduct

In our commitment to creating safe and positive learning spaces, NSW public schools are introducing a revised Student Code of Conduct. This revised Student Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for student behaviour during all school activities, including online and off-site.

The Student Code of Conduct will be implemented from Term 1, 2027. In Term 2 this year, schools will receive posters to display in teaching and school public spaces, with resources and professional learning available to support everyone in promoting positive behaviour.

Students and parents will be asked to acknowledge the Student Code of Conduct annually as part of ongoing school processes.

For more information, please visit https://education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/familiarisation/student-code-of-conduct

Thank you for supporting a respectful and positive school community.

Please see information in the P&C section of this newsletter about a trial for online meetings for Terms 2 and 3.  The purpose of the trial is to encourage parents who cannot attend in-person, to be able to join from home. This may be particularly welcomed as we enter the cooler months of the year.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at their next meeting, so it is important to ensure you are financial to vote.  We have a very supportive P&C and they are very keen to welcome new members to the team.

Please see further information on the P&C page of this newsletter.
