Swimming Carnivals

Students from our school recently represented us proudly at the Zone Swimming Carnival and the North West Swimming Carnival. It was fantastic to see our swimmers competing strongly while demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and resilience throughout both events.

Lily, Archie and Billy all performed admirably in their individual events. Each student showed great determination in the pool, pushing themselves to do their best against tough competition. Their efforts were rewarded with some fantastic results and personal achievements, making our school community very proud.

A special mention also goes to our boys relay team consisting of Billy, Cooper, Lewis and Jett. The team swam with great enthusiasm and determination, working together to give their very best effort in the relay. Their teamwork and persistence were wonderful to see, and they represented the school with pride.

In the Zone Carnival we had Henry, Nate, Makayla, Lacey, Macy, Toby, Sam and Lola also represent our school with pride and excellent competition.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers for their hard work, positive attitude and commitment. They showed great resilience and should be very proud of their performances at both carnivals.

Stage 1

Our Stage 1 students have been working hard this term, enjoying lots of fun along the way!

During our touch football sessions, students were very active and developed their passing, catching, and agility skills through a variety of engaging activities. After learning these new games, we now include them in our Stage 1 sport days to continue practicing and building on these skills.

The Questacon roadshow was a fantastic experience for our students. They explored how sound changes and travels, discovering fascinating science concepts. One exciting highlight was when students stood on a board with balloons underneath to see if they would pop — and to everyone’s surprise, they didn’t!

Looking ahead, we will soon be making our hats for the Easter Hat Parade, which will take place on Thursday, 2 April at 10am. Stage 1 will also be presenting an item at our Week 3 assembly in Term 2. We hope to see you there!

3/4 Opals

This term, 3/4 Opals have been thoroughly enjoying their exploration of Roald Dahl’s classic, Fantastic Mr Fox. As part of their literacy studies, students have immersed themselves in the art of characterisation, discovering how authors bring their characters to life through description and actions.

A highlight of their learning was an imaginative writing activity where the children created a character description for a brand-new fourth farmer. This exercise allowed the students to apply their understanding of character traits and personalities, extending the story with their own creative touch.

Alongside their writing, the class also embraced their artistic talents by producing colourful artworks inspired by the whimsical illustrations of Quentin Blake. These vibrant pieces beautifully capture the spirit and energy of Fantastic Mr Fox, showcasing the students’ unique interpretations.

The combination of reading, writing, and art has made this unit both engaging and enriching for 3/4 Opals, deepening their appreciation of this beloved story while enhancing their literacy skills. We look forward to seeing where their creativity will take them next!
