NSW Vaccination Program
Each year NSW Health works in partnership with schools to offer the vaccines recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for adolescents as part of the school vaccination program.
In 2026 the following vaccines will be offered:

|
Schools will distribute a URL and a QR code to all Year 7 and Year 10 parents at the beginning of the 2026 school year which will provide access to an online Parent Information, privacy statement and consent form. To consent to the vaccination of their child, parents/carers are advised to:
Enter the URL into your browser, select the School Vaccination Program tile and follow instructions.
read all the information provided
complete the online consent form and give consent for which vaccine/s they would like their child to receive
ensure that their child eats breakfast on the day of the school vaccination clinic.
To improve vaccination completion, students whose parents/carers have provided consent while in Year 7 or Year 10 and who miss vaccine doses at any clinic, will be opportunistically offered these vaccines at each clinic visit throughout 2026 (Year 7 or 10) & 2027 (Year 8 or 11).
Parents/carers who wish to withdraw their consent for any reason may do so by amending their student’s online consent.
The Procedure for Withdrawal of Consent is available on the NSW Health website at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation/Pages/withdraw_consent.aspx
A Record of Vaccination will be provided to parents by SMS once a student has been vaccinated. Parents/carers should not assume that their child has been vaccinated if they do not receive this SMS notification.
NOTE: If you experience difficulty with accessing the online consent package, please speak with the School Vaccination coordinator at your school.

Year 8 Science
Egg Drop Challenge: Exploring Forces in Year 8 Science
This term, Year 8 science students are investigating forces, with a special focus on gravity. Recently, students took on the exciting “Egg Drop Challenge,” designing creative ways to protect an egg as it was launched from a balcony.
There was plenty of anticipation and teamwork as students tested their designs. While some eggs survived the fall unscathed, others weren’t quite so lucky, but everyone had fun learning and experimenting.
Science Excursion to Thalgarrah Environmental Educational Centre
In Week 6, our Year 9 and 10 science classes had the opportunity to visit Thalgarrah Environmental Educational Centre for a hands-on study of woodland bird diversity. Students took part in fieldwork activities, working in teams to observe and collect data about local bird species.
The excursion provided valuable insight into biodiversity and scientific research, and students are now using the data collected to continue their studies back in the classroom.
Armidale Running Festival
The inaugural Armidale Running Festival was held on the weekend in very warm and sunny conditions. Our school was well represented with six students and staff running in either the 3km, 5km or 10km races. Congratulations to Allison Broadbent who was the first female across the line in the 3km race after completing the run in a blistering 13 minutes. She then completed the half marathon (21km) on Sunday morning. What an effort!! Well done to our team of enthusiastic runners.
Aboriginal Dance Workshop
On Wednesday 11 March three students from Uralla Central attended the NSW Public Schools Secondary Aboriginal Dance Workshop, at Armidale Secondary College. The aim of the workshop was to foster and develop dance skills and cultural significance. Several public schools attended the workshop. Uralla Central School students enjoyed the day and had the privilege of learning from quality dance teachers from Bangarra Aboriginal Dance company. It was a great way to engage and meet students from across the region.
