RNPS Family Festival Art Show Success!

We couldn't be more proud of  our students showcasing their art in our very first RNPS Art Show. All students demonstrated our four school values: being motivated, grateful, inspirational and safe throughout the entire art making process. From exploring art elements, drawing inspiration from experiences outside of school, experimenting with new mediums, taking on new challenges to producing a piece to showcase they are truly proud of. The feedback we have had from Saturdays Art Show has been a true reflection of dedication of our wonderful students and whole school community at RNPS.

THANK YOU to our Incredible RNPS Community

Laminating, cutting, gluing, hanging and displaying, our community legends have done it all! Our first RNPS Art Show has come together with the generous help of many. Thank you to all our wonderful staff and volunteers who leant a helping hand to bring it all together for this years Family Festival. This is what our RNPS community is all about.

Prep - Abstract Lines, Inspired by artist Piet Mondrian.

Students explored abstract art through elements of line, shape, colour and space. The Preps pasted paper lines onto a blank canvas and engaged in oil pastels to fill remaining white spaces with colours of choice.

Grade 1 - Japanese Bridge, Inspired by artist Claude Monet

Students explored fingerprinting when creating their own Japanese Bridge art, developing an understanding of layering, tinting and shading acrylic paint. The Grade 1s sketched out the sections of the landscape, added paint without the use of a brush and discussed how to show movement when painting water.

Grade 2 - Shooting Stars, Inspired by artist Vincent Van Gogh

Students explored the elements of line and colour whilst creating movement. The Grade 2s used a selection of cool colours and warm yellows to design their own shooting star, applying acrylic paint with varying brush sizes and plastic forks to add directional lines. Students used metallic paint slick sticks, cardboard and scissors to design their star.

Grade 3 - Collograph Stamps

Grade 3 students designed their own stamp using foam and card, considering the art elements pattern and shape. Oil pastels and ear buds were used to add colour and pattern to the background whilst using rubbing techniques to blend colours with the cotton bud. Students inked their stamps with black acrylic and pressed down to create a repeated pattern.

Grade 3 and 4 - Cactus Construction

Students explored slot construction, collage and the process of making sculptures. The Grade 3s and 4s applied a glue mix to thin paper pieces to decorate their pots, cut out and painted cardboard pieces using slick sticks and paint pens. Finally, students used slot construction techniques to create their cactus plant.

Grade 5 - Mixed Media Album Covers

Students composed an original song in Performing Arts before bringing their music to life visually through the design of an album cover in Visual Arts. Students explored how colour, imagery, pattern, shape and typography can communicate the mood and feeling of a song. Students had the opportunity to select their own art medium, choosing from collage, painting, drawing or a combination of all three, allowing them to express their ideas creatively and develop an individual response to their music.

Grade 6 - Graffiti Art

Students explored the exciting world of Graffiti and Street Art, investigating art installations, stencil art and the work of artists Banksy, Keith Haring and Maya Hayuk. They began by creating a brick wall background using acrylic paints and sponges. Students then designed their names using graffiti-style lettering, incorporating colour, value, texture, shadows and movement lines to add depth, energy and personality to their work.

I want to say a HUGE congratulations to all my artists who demonstrated such passion, care, creativity and dedication to everything they produced for our first ever RNPS Art Show. The months leading up to Saturdays event was nothing short of hard work and inspiration. I am incredibly proud of each of you and hope you have taken a moment to reflect on your creative skills and final art pieces. You have all set such an incredible example for extension artists to come, well done. I look forward to what the remainder of our extension lessons for 2026 have in store!

Silent Auction Art - Going once, going twice ... SOLD!

Our first RNPS collaborative art was a hit! THANK YOU to everyone who placed a bid on our very first RNPS Art at this years Family Festival. We know how excited students were to participate in such a special part of the festival. The final 30 minutes of the silent auction was a thrilling site to see! Huge bids and a battle to see who would take home a new, one of a kind and priceless art piece produced by our very own little artists. Congratulations to all silent auction winners. We hope they bring joy and colour to each home they now live, representing a piece of what makes RNPS so special.
