MUSIC
Term 4 has arrived and with it, lots of buckets! In Years 3-6, we have been exploring bucket drumming. Students have been creating their own unique rhythmic routines and performing for each other. Other than being great fun, this unit of work strongly encourages; creativity, collaboration, respectful listening, hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition and self-regulation. Wow, there's a lot going on in Music classes right now!
CHOIR (Years 3-6)
The choir has grown! We now have a whopping 45 students in our choir and, boy, can they sing! The choir meets on Friday afternoons, either at lunch, or if there is no assembly, after lunch until home time. At our last rehearsal, 18 students volunteered to sing a solo. Each student sang to the choir, overcoming nerves to demonstrate their singing talent. I was quite touched by this courage from so many members and wish to commend them for their bravery. I hope I can find lots of places to put a solo singer, even if it's just for a single line here and there. Stay tuned, an assembly performance is coming soon...
This term the choir will be singing at Stockland shopping centre on Thursday, 10th December at 2:00pm. There will be more information to come but please, pop the date in your diary, as we would love a big audience.
While the performance is not super long (approx. 20 minutes) there are still quite a few lyrics and tunes to learn. To support our choir students to learn everything in time, I am offering to put the backing music and words on a USB stick for them. Students are welcome to bring a clearly namedUSB stick to school and give it to me on Thursday or Friday. I will give it back the following week once I've put the music and lyrics on it. They can then use this to practise at home or with choir buddies.
Thank you for your support.
