This week, Year 3/4 students in B2 have been exploring the fascinating world of plants and animals, with a particular focus on life cycles, pollination and the important roles living things play in our environment. Students have been highly engaged in our Science unit and have enjoyed investigating the wonderful relationship between flowers and their pollinators.

This week, students have been learning about the different parts of a flower and their roles in pollination. Students have also investigated the different features flowers use to attract pollinators, including their colours, scents and shapes.

Students headed outdoors on flower-hunting adventures to observe and discover the variety of flowers growing in our school environment. We have also carefully dissected flowers to investigate their different parts and explored the unique scents of different flowers.

These hands-on experiences have helped students develop their observation skills and deepen their understanding of scientific diagrams and the importance of labelling the features they observe.

One of their favourite activities involved creating our own bees and flowers before becoming busy pollinators!

Students flew their bees between flowers, collecting and transferring chalk pollen to see how pollination works.
