Shining our Light at the 2026 ART SHOW - 'Illuminate'

It was all light, sparkles and illumination on Friday evening as we welcomed students, families, staff and special guests to our Art Show! The anticipation was finally over and it was time to experience all the wonderful art that had been created throughout the year. Illuminate was an apt theme as creative art pieces sparkled and shone throughout the Hall, the Glow Room and the Disco Room. Huge congratulations to our students and enormous thanks to Mrs Anne Pullen for the most spectacular Art Show! Thanks to Mrs Mastoras for her support of all the creative endeavors developed by Mrs Pullen and for prioritising art and creativity at St Roch's.   Thanks to our wonderful choir and Mrs O'Gorman who performed at the opening ceremony with the most beautiful voices. They were certainly able to engage the crowd!

Our four Arts Leaders, Olivia Nolan, Aira Merchant, Rose Iles and Matilda Stubbs were outstanding at the Opening Ceremony in their welcoming speech. Here is what they said...

Olivia Nolan  - Good evening students, parents, staff, families and special guests. Welcome to our 2026 St Roch’s Art Show “Illuminate’.

I am Olivia, one of the Arts Leaders for this year and I would like to introduce you to the other three Arts Leaders, Aira, Rose and Matilda.

We are so excited for you to see all of the art that we have created with Mrs Pullen's guidance throughout the year. Mrs Pullen has encouraged us to take risks, to be creative and to develop our artistic skills through drawing, construction and painting.

Aira Merchant  - Our school theme for this year is ‘United in Faith, Sharing the Light’ and all of the art work you will see tonight is related to an aspect of light.

This Art Show showcases all the amazing art from Prep to Year 6. This experience has been very inspiring and so much fun. Lots of materials have been used to create all of the art works here, like clay, oil pastels, water colour paint and collage.

As you move through the Art Show, you will see light explored in many different forms.

Rose Iles - We are so proud of all of the art work that has been created by each student. Nine pieces from every student including one we created with Mrs Jensen in our STEM lessons. Not only did we develop our art skills, we learnt about and have been inspired by many famous artists including Monet, Leonadi de Vinci, Gaudi and Mary Blair. Each week we have been excited to enter the Art room to find out what our next creation would be. Some art work even involved chemical science!

Matilda Stubbs - Mrs Pullen, we feel so incredibly lucky to have had you teach us this year and we can’t thank you enough for your dedication, passion and the skills you have developed in us. We are all feeling like more competent artists with a deeper appreciation of art and artists. Art helps improve our sense of wellbeing, enables us to see things from a different perspective and to appreciate each other and our world in a different way.  Thank you for your creativity and encouragement of us.

Bonus points were awarded to students who displayed respect, responsibility and resilience at Chess Club. We look forward to Chess Club returning in Term 2 2027.

Icy Pole Friday is back for Term 4!

Thanks to all of our students and families who purchased icy poles after school on Friday. Icy poles will be on sale every Friday afternoon this term. Our Year 6 leaders will be at the gates ready for lots of customers! Thank you Miss Allen, Mr Arthur and the Year 6 leaders for leading this initiative. The money raised will go towards the installation of retractable nets behind the soccer goals. These nets will keep students who are playing in the sandpit safe from any stray soccer balls.

Australian Girls Choir Workshop

We are looking forward to welcoming Bridie from the Australian Girls Choir to St Roch's this Wednesday 14 October. The Australian Girls Choir staff will run an assessment workshop for our girls.

Your daughter is invited to attend the assessment workshop.  In order to attend the workshop, students must be registered prior to this visit. Please complete and return the physical permission slip as sent home with your daughter or register through the website via the QR code if your daughter might be interested in this experience. See the digital flyer link below. Following the workshop, each participant will be sent an encouraging written report.

The workshop will run for approximately 30 minutes and is inclusive and fun. The workshop is non-competitive and is simply designed to give our students an idea of what to expect in an AGC class – a combination of singing and movement activities.

We look forward to lots of lots of our girls participating in this opportunity.

Please see the digital copy of the flyer linked below.

Mrs Meseha has a true gift for setting up engaging activities involving mud, creativity and care for nature.

Gardening Club is held every Wednesday at 1.50pm and is open to all students from Prep - Year 6. We love watching our veggies grow!
