Projects
Moving around the workshops, it has been fantastic to see student projects progressing so well across all areas. The atmosphere in the workshops remains positive and productive, with students demonstrating strong focus and initiative in their work. It has also been pleasing to notice an increase in students attending after-hours workshop sessions, showing a genuine commitment to improving their skills and advancing their projects. These additional sessions are providing students with valuable time to refine their work, solve problems, and further develop their practical abilities.
Engineering
Engineering students are working diligently on their personal projects, with many producing work of a high standard. Excellent progress is being made across the class as students continue to balance both their practical and theory components effectively.
Many students are now successfully completing and ticking off theory competencies, allowing them to devote more time and attention to constructing and refining their projects. It has been encouraging to see students developing confidence with workshop equipment, applying safe work practices, and demonstrating greater independence in their project planning and fabrication.
Trade Drawing
Trade Drawing is now in full swing, with students developing valuable industry skills through both AutoCAD and traditional pencil drawing techniques. Students are learning how to produce accurate technical drawings while building a strong understanding of layout, dimensioning, linework, and industry standards. It has been pleasing to see students improving their precision and attention to detail as they transition between hand-drawn techniques and computer-aided drafting. These skills provide an excellent foundation for future pathways in engineering, construction, design, and trades-related industries.
Year 11 Trade Tour
Caregivers of students who have expressed interest in attending the upcoming Year 11 Trade Tour are reminded to check their emails carefully for the Consent2Go invitation.
The tour will provide students with valuable exposure to a range of industry pathways and training opportunities, including visits to Mader, Hofmann Engineering, the Construction Training Fund and Futures Centre, and North Metropolitan TAFE Balga campus.
These experiences are an excellent opportunity for students to gain insight into apprenticeships, training programs, and career pathways within the trades and engineering industries. Please ensure RSVP responses are completed promptly to confirm your student’s attendance at these valuable opportunities.
