It has been a fantastic fortnight at TPPS. Besides the stimulating learning in the classroom there have been so many amazing events taking place inside and outside of our school. We have highlighted a few of these in the Principals’ Message and the Learning @ TPPS sections.

TPPS House Launch

Last Friday, we undertook a whole school launch of our new House names. Our students all dressed in their House colours for the day and we held a special assembly in the afternoon to launch our new House names and to present our House leaders with their new badges. It was a fantastic day and we are so excited for what we have in store for our House program.

The story behind our new House names

The four House names are based on the four elements (earth, air, fire and water) that are considered fundamental to nature and life. We have used ‘Sun’ instead of air. Our House names are the elements that bring life to Templestowe Park PS. These elements represent everyone from different cultures, backgrounds and groups at TPPS.

The House names are written in the language of the Wurundjeri people. The Wurundjeri people are the Aboriginal people of the Woiwurrung language group, in the Kulin nation. They are the traditional owners of the Yarra River Valley, covering much of the present location of Melbourne and Templestowe.

Each House has a native animal as its mascot. We believe that it will provide an Australian animal that our students can relate to. It also brings some fun and enjoyment to our Houses.

Kinder Visits and Taste of School

Over the past few weeks TPPS has been welcoming Kinder students to our school and undertaking Pre-school visits. These programs are part of our community service program and to commence our kinder students transition program to ‘big school’. We had over 40 students attend the ‘Taste of School’ sessions where they participated in a Visual Arts and Sport lesson. Ms Sumner led a really fun Art lesson while Mr Kitney and Mr Van Der Pol took our kinder kids for Sport. They were also ably supported by our Grade 4 students. Our visitors had a fantastic time and all walked away with a huge smile on their faces.

Ms Huber and our amazing Grade 4 students visited some of our local pre-schools to deliver performing arts lessons to the children. Led by Ms Huber, our Grade 4 students split into three groups and delivered a music, dance and drama activity. They did a sensational job and the children loved having the big kids teach them some new things.

We are so pleased to provide these opportunities for our local pre-school children and give our Grade 4 students the opportunity to participate in this community service. The students led our school so well and we could not be any prouder of them. A big thank you to Ms Sumner, Ms Huber, Mr Van Der Pol, Mr Kitney and Katie for making these fantastic events possible.

School Council

This week we had our May School Council meeting. We have a fantastic School Council and they are passionate about making our school environment the very best it can be for our students, staff and community.

School Councils are a group of individuals, including parents, and teachers who are responsible for helping to make decisions that affect the school. They play a vital role in the efficient governance of the school, ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of students and enhancing educational opportunities.

Coffee and Chat with the Principal Class

We had our second Coffee and Chat for the year this morning and we had a great meeting with parents from a range of levels across the school. Our chat ended up going for an hour and a half and many insightful topics were discussed. We will hold future Coffee and Chats so please keep an eye out on Compass and in our Newsletter.

2026 Prep Enrolments - Now Open!

How to enrol at Templestowe Park PS

Contact our school office on 9846 2700 to book a school tour with our Principal or Assistant Principals.
Submit an Expression of Interest EOI if you would like to receive updates from Templestowe Park about enrolment news and our numerous transition programs.
Digital enrolments for Prep 2026 opened on Tuesday 22 April 2025. Please click here to submit your digital enrolment after Tuesday 22 April 2025.
Submit an enrolment application for Prep 2026 by Friday 25 July 2025.
You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August 2025. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025. Please note – all in zone student enrolments will be immediately accepted on receipt of student enrolment.
We will invite families to participate in our Prep 2026 Transition programs.
Prep students will commence school on Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Keeping up with what is happening at TPPS!

Our school is a very busy place with lots of different events, excursions, incursions and activities taking place. To keep up with what is happening we publish a school calendar. You can access this calendar via Compass (click on the calendar in the tab at the top of your page), via the school website or via the Newsletter in the ‘School Calendar’ section. Within this section in the newsletter we will also list the important upcoming dates.

TeamKids - New Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Director at TPPS

We are pleased to inform the community that a new Director of Service has been employed at the Templestowe Park Service. Aki Hosseini commenced at Templestowe Park last week. Aki comes from an extensive background in OHSC and most recently, she was the Director of Service at Blackburn PS. We welcome Aki to our school community and we look forward to her leadership of our OHSC Service.

Arriving to School on Time - Morning Routines

This week we have contacted a number of families of children that have had many 'unexplained' late arrivals in Term 2. Late arrival to school greatly impacts learning and can create anxiety for students. One of the main reasons for students not arriving to school on time is the business of the home in the morning. Setting up a good routine helps children arrive at school ready to learn and play.

Please note - we are on yard duty from 8:30am so we encourage all students to arrive at this time so they can play with their friends before entering the classroom at 8:50am.

Principals' Award

This week's Principals' Award was presented to Marcello (Gr 3) at our Assembly today. Marcello is a thoughtful and reliable member of our Templestowe Park community. He consistently applies himself to his learning - both in the classroom as well as specialist lessons - ensuring tasks are completed to the best of his ability. Always courteous and respectful, Marcello treats both his peers and teachers with kindness, which allows him to work and play harmoniously with everyone. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model, Marcello - you are an absolute joy to teach!
