SSWA Junior Boys & Girls State Championships
After qualifying through the South Region Carnival just two weeks ago, we had three teams, two girls’ teams and one boys’ team, in the SSWA Junior State Championships, entering directly into the quarter finals.
Both girls’ teams were drawn against very strong opposition and started their matches nervously, taking some time to settle into the intensity of the knockout stage. In the second half, however, both teams lifted significantly and played much closer to the standard we know they can produce. Despite their improved performances, both teams bowed out in the quarter finals. Well done to both girls’ squads on a commendable effort at state level.
Our boys’ team enjoyed an excellent quarter final, securing a 5–2 win with a strong attacking display. They backed this up with a high-quality performance in the semi final, narrowly going down 3–1. Chasing the game late, the boys hit the post multiple times before being caught on the break for the opposition’s third. A superb run and a great effort from all involved.
This concludes our football competitions for the year. Congratulations to all players on their hard work and achievements—we look forward to building again in 2026!

Canons Sports Awards
The Canons Awards were held in the Xanten Amphitheatre. These awards are a chance to recognise the hardworking, dedication and ability of the student athletes we have within the College. It was a great morning that saw students receive medallions and trophies for all of the teams that competed throughout 2025. Families were also welcomed to enjoy a breakfast and to see the students recognised for their efforts. It was a great way to wrap up the 2025 season of Canons Sport.
Thank you to all staff who have coached any sports teams throughout the year as these opportunities for students to compete don’t come around without your willingness to assist.
