National Recycling Week

National Recycling Week is an annual Australian campaign founded by Planet Ark in 1996, held during the second week of November. Its goal is to educate individuals, businesses, and communities on reducing waste, reusing items, and recycling correctly to conserve resources and protect the environment. The Climate Canons commemorated this week by hosting a Blooket Quiz and a lunchtime activity on Monday 17 November. Students had to think about the bin in which we use for different items and challenge themselves to consider what can be recycled, repurposed and reused. Thank you to all the student who participated on Monday and congratulations to Alex Pilkington (Yr 10), Ethan Sayla (Yr 10) and Tanyian Verma (Yr 8) for achieving the top scores in the Blooket Quiz.

National Pollinator Week

Each November, Australian Pollinator Week shines a spotlight on the important and unique pollinators in Australia, including native bees, butterflies, beetles, birds, bats and other pollinators. It’s an opportunity for communities across the country to learn more about the diversity of Australian pollinators and to take steps to protect them. The Climate Canons resident BEES were a HIVE of activity on Wednesday 19th November with unBEElievably fun activities at lunchtime involving costumes and dancing (bees do a little dance to communicate with one another) to share the message of the importance of pollinators to our environment. There was a lot of BUZZ for our Blooket Quiz, thank you to all that got involved. BEElieve in yourself, we can all make a difference to helping pollinators at home, school and in the community.
