Home Inquiry
At the Tea Tree Gully Library, they have updated the children’s section. It is full of wonderful new areas to explore. We encourage you go along and have a look as well as enjoying the Book Week Display.
This week your child will receive a question sheet. There are several questions to ask their grandparents about their life as a child. We ask that you assist them in recording the information on the sheet to complete the next part of their learning. We require these back by the start of week 3 (Monday 3rd August).
Reading: We encourage your child to read every night for 10-15 minutes. Please listen to your child read the decodable books and ask the ‘check for understanding’ questions at the back. Once you have read the ‘decodable book’ 2 or 3 times, please send it back with the recording sheet.
The ‘Interest books' with coloured round stickers on the front may need to be read together.

Christian Studies
This term we are beginning a new unit. We are exploring what it means to live in and care for the world. We are beginning to explore the story of creation and exploring the different aspects of each day.
Writer’s and Reader’s Workshop:
As readers, students are exploring features of a page and layouts of pages. This includes both fiction and non-fiction texts.
As authors, students are transferring this information onto a poster to showcase their knowledge of past and present.
Mathematics:
Year 1 and Year 2 Students inquire into data representation e.g. tally marks and how to read a graph. We are also exploring patterns including shape, colour and number patterns and continuing to consolidate our place value understanding.
Unit of Inquiry: Where We Are in Place and Time
Students are continuing into their inquiring in to the past and comparing how it is similar or different to the present. Students are focusing on one key area to explore and then deliver an oral presentation to either a small group or to the whole class.
