Footprints of Unity - Round Square

Round Square International Conference Perth 2025

The Easter holidays saw six students from St Philip's travel to Perth to attend the 2025 International RS Conference. This opportunity immersed students in a variety of activities aimed at deepening their understanding of Indigenous culture, art, ancient landforms and outdoor adventures.

Through these experiences our students forged connections with students from across Australia and overseas focusing on the 6 IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service.

An opening and closing ceremony with song, dance and cultural presentations as well as diverse activities such as bush tucker, singing, river cruises, bushwalks, dolphin adventures, historical tours, musical experiences and so much more were all part of the Scotch and Bunbury College itinerary. The six students included Senethma Ekanayake, Zara Gray-Spence, Summer Rockemer, Alannah Clark, Mailee Adie and Eli Fleming. Here are the responses from students who chose to submit.

Senethma Ekanayake

"I enjoyed the trip and it was an amazing experience, I made a couple of new friends and learned about other schools around Australia. This was an amazing trip that I got to enjoy with so many people. I enjoyed bonding with students I haven't talked to who go to the same school as me, I learned about them and so many others. This was a great experience."

Zara Gray-Spence

"During the Perth Round Square International Conference, myself and five other students got to stay at Scotch College and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School. We did various activities around Perth with other students from all around the world. Some of the activities were a dolphin cruise, exploring dripstone caves and boomerang throwing."

Summer Rockemer

"The Perth Round Square Conference was an experience I could do over and over again. The people I met made it so much more fun than I ever could have imagined. I enjoyed camping at the Moray Outdoor Ed Centre, especially the rope course. Scotch College had a bag pipe band which was amazing to see."

Alannah Clark

"Going on this conference was an amazing experience I won't forget. I got to see and do a lot in Perth which I had never seen or done before, like going on a dolphin boat which was really fun and cool because it’s nothing you would ever see in Alice Springs, Kings Park which was pretty and interesting, a cruise, a pipe band etc. I had a lot of fun trying new things and would recommend going on. It is super fun to learn about other schools and meet new people from America, India and other cool places."
