Book Week News

Term 3 is here and that means Book Week is not far away! One of the most popular events on the SPS calendar, Book Week gives us lots of opportunities to celebrate books and reading, and the importance they have in our lives.
Book Week takes place this year from 16th-23rd August with the theme "Book An Adventure". It also acknowledges 80 years of the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA), the instigators of Children's Book Week and champions of quality children's literature here in Australia.
As always, we have plenty of whole-school activities planned for everyone to get involved with and celebrate everything great about books and reading. Here are just some things we have planned; more details will be forwarded closer to the time.
Whole-School Incursion - a live performance of the show Treasure Hunt featuring characters and themes from some of the 2025 shortlisted CBCA books. This will be held on Monday 11th August and permission and payment for this event is now open in Compass.
Scholastic Book Fair - our annual Scholastic Book Fair will be open for sales to the community on 18th, 19th and 20th August.
CBCA 2025 Shortlisted Book Discovery - students will have many opportunities to discover some of the wonderful books that have been voted as the CBCA's 2025 Shortlisted Finalists, including lunchtime read-alouds by our senior students to the whole school.
Book Week Dress-Up Day - a Book Week favourite, and the chance to show how creative you can be in dressing as a character from one of your favourite books.
