Catch Ups:

Room 6 did a big inquiry on some logs they found in the bush. There were lines in the wood that looked like hieroglyphics, and strange sounds could be heard from inside.

Senior School Bush Day:

A shortened version of the Air NZ ad to just focus on Alamein.

These children have been secretly cleaning up the school every Friday lunchtime with teacher Noonie Xu. You can see the big bag of rubbish they filled.

A Very Clever Piece of Writing by Peter - Room 22:

A regular day at a random school, or is it? Ben is a boy who will escape a massive flood at his school. Can he escape? DUCK, someone yelled. Everyone instantly realised why a gigantic wave broke through the windows of the classroom. Fizz, then a voice from the microphone yelled something."Goodness, I've got to jump to the roof now?!" Hours had passed in Ben's mind when he realised he needed some good old parkour. I only have to make it to the window, and then I can climb to the roof easily. Just because it's hard, it doesn't mean it's impossible. Kick the window open. Lowering himself into the water, Ben realised it was about 15 degrees cold. "More power, and I could make it. No, not a huge wave again." Okay, believe in yourself, I can make it, I will make it. Please, YES I made it! Question to myself, how will you climb up there? Rusty, my friend, is climbing up there. Somehow, he climbed the ladder so I could do it as well. Terrible luck I guess, cause I fell. Under, maybe if I go underwater, it might work. Variable, maybe I can make it, let's see. What, I made it. Xmas tree! Yelled someone, a big one. Zebra, someone else said, It's magic! Is this a new adventure or just hallucinations? I guess we will never know...

Now, Reread it, and What Do You See?

A regular day at a random school, or is it?

Ben is a boy who will escape a massive flood at his school.

Can he escape?

DUCK, someone yelled.

Everyone instantly realised why a gigantic wave broke through the windows of the classroom.

Fizz, then a voice from the microphone yelled something.

"Goodness, I've got to jump to the roof now?!"

Hours had passed in Ben's mind when he realised he needed some good old parkour.

I only have to make it to the window, and then I can climb to the roof easily.

Just because it's hard, it doesn't mean it's impossible.

Kick the window open.

Lowering himself into the water, Ben realised it was about 15 degrees cold.

More power, and I could make it.

"No, not a huge wave again."

Okay, believe in yourself I can make it, I will make it.

Please. YES, I made it!

Question to myself, how will you climb up there?

Rusty, my friend, is climbing up there.

Somehow, he climbed the ladder so I could do it as well.

Terrible luck, I guess, because I fell.

Under, maybe if I go underwater, it might work.

Variables, maybe I can make it, let's see.

What, I made it.

Xmas tree!

Yelled someone, a big one.

Zebra, someone else said, It's magic! Is this a new adventure or just hallucinations? I guess we will never know...

Christmas Box Packing:

Every year, a team from Western Heights (and associated friends), under the guidance of Mele James, joins hundreds of other volunteers in South Auckland to pack Christmas Boxes. We did this again last Saturday, and were part of a team that packed over 10,530 boxes.

It was an awesome effort, and we are proud that we could do our bit.

My job was to collect these empty pallets by hand, one at a time, and take them to different stacking spots.

I used my hay-carting experience to build stacks higher than I can reach.

This is one of my stacks - and, yes, I was proud of my efforts.

It has been a hard few years (12 actually) for me as a Manchester United supporter, but now and then I get a pick-me-up, like the one at left.

I'm hoping we win a trophy before this little guy grows up...

If not, then at least finish ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.
