TERM 4 SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING AT ST JOSEPH'S SCHOOL - TOPIC 8 - POSITIVE GENDER RELATIONS
This term through our weekly Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) classes, all year levels are working on Topic 8 - Positive Gender Relations, where students develop an age-appropriate understanding of gender-based violence, safe and unsafe behaviours and consent. Students also develop self-care, peer support and help-seeking skills they can use in response to situations involving gender-based violence.
Working in well with this topic, last Friday 31st October, all classes WORE RED and donated towards the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. This was the colour of the t-shirt Daniel Morcombe was wearing the day he disappeared.
Our students raised $116.10 that will go towards funding education of students all across Australia of protective behaviours, body boundaries, consent and safe spaces with the help of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
All students took part in our Day for Daniel activities including watching some very important screenings provided by the foundation with follow up discussion questions and activities.
ABCSL 2025 and Jelly Surprise (for Preps) focused on Contextual Prevention which can be translated to Safe Spaces, creating safer environments for children in online and offline spaces.
Thousands of schools across Australia joined our school on Friday in watching and learning about being safer in online and offline spaces.
For our Preps, we provided a more age-appropriate version of the same concepts through the Jelly Surprise Animated Book.

We appreciate what the Morcombe Family have done to protect others in memory of their son, Daniel.
