Book Week Parade:

Mathematics

We have been building on our learning in multiplication by exploring how it links to division. Arrays have helped us connect multiplication to skip counting, while strategies such as sharing and grouping have supported our problem-solving. We also learned how multiplication sentences can be rewritten as division sentences to form number families. Our lessons have included plenty of hands-on activities with different manipulatives, making the learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Reading

In reading, students have continued to find the main idea in both fiction and non-fiction texts, while also identifying characters and the setting in short texts. They are building their comprehension skills and developing a stronger understanding of how stories and informational texts are structured.

Writing

In Writing, students have been developing their skills in creating information reports. Each student has chosen a sport of interest and has been researching it using books, fact files, and the internet to gather key information. They are now in the drafting stage, where the focus is on using content-specific vocabulary and organising ideas into clear, well-structured paragraphs. This process is helping students build confidence in research, planning, and presenting information in their own words.
