Prep Guy
Over the past two weeks in Literacy, we have been busy planning, writing and illustrating our own fiction stories ready for Book Week. Students have shown amazing imaginations during this process and I think we may have some future authors and illustrators! If you would like to read our stories they will be available on Friday.
In Numeracy we have continued our work with making equal groups and sharing equally using counters, drawings and money.
We had a visit by Bunyip Dental who taught us about looking after our teeth. We need to brush our teeth twice a day round and round to the song, The Wheels On The Bus.
We absolutely loved our annual Book Week Parade, plus sharing our favourite texts with our Grade 6 buddies. Look at these amazing photos!
A reminder that we start swimming next week. Please come to school with your bathers already on, under your school uniform.
Prep Guy Students Of The Week
Congratulations to Joshua and Billie who have been voted in by their classmates over the past two weeks. Students voted for these students because they show our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience. Prep Guy are so proud of you both.
Gardening and Cooking Club
Over the past two weeks we have worked in the vegie garden and worked on our permanent art work; our school values with mosaics.
Wow, we've had another busy couple of weeks in the classroom! It has been such a Joy to see how well all the students have settled into Term 3 and embraced their Learning.
Book Week 📚📚
We have celebrated all week in the classroom for book week, as a class we have been reading lots of books, doing book reviews on our favourite books, learning about the history of when book week started and making book week crafts. Students all enjoyed dressing up for the book parade and sharing their favourite books with the class.
In Literacy, we have been focusing on commas and where they go in our writing. We have learnt that we can use commas to separate lists. When writing a letter, a comma should come after the greeting and the closing. We also learnt that when writing a date, there should be a comma after the day of the week and after the numerical date.
Students had fun using macaroni-shaped pasta as commas in their work.
In Numeracy, we have been focusing on skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's. We have enjoyed playing lots of fun skip-counting games. In our photos below, students had to arrange themselves in order by skip counting by 10's.
Digital Technologies
In Digital Technologies, we have been learning how to take pictures on the IPADs and then how we can edit our pictures, crop parts of our pictures, change the colour and how we can add drawings or text to our pictures. The students had lots of fun with their pictures.
Developmental Play - Thursdays
Students enjoyed making playdough as part of their developmental play. This allowed for social interaction with each other and to use their problem-solving skills when the playdough would not stick together. Next week, we will start playing with playdough, which offers numerous benefits for the students, including the development of fine motor skills, enhanced creativity and imagination, and improved sensory and cognitive development. It also provides a calming and therapeutic activity that can help with emotional regulation and stress relief.
Friday - Special Share Day
On Friday's we will now be having special share day, this will be replacing the daily show and tell. If your child has something special they would like to share with the class or a special story they would like to share, we will be doing this now on a Friday.
Something special could be a photo they want to tell us about, or something they have been given, they would like to share. They do not have to bring something in, just if they would like to share.
Student Achiever Awards
Last Week's Student Achiever was Milan. Well Done Milan, you have been a great role model to your classmates, you have been respectful, a great helper and shown resilience. Well Done.
This Week's Student Achiever is Adeline. Adeline, you love being our Student Achiever, you have been a great help in the class, role modelled to your classmates how we should work quietly and respectfully!! Well Done
