Principal's Message

Dear Families,
Semester 1 exams have been underway for Year 7 - 11 students for the past two weeks. Exams are an important part of the learning process as they provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding, apply the skills they have developed throughout the semester, and reflect on their academic growth.
The examination period also helps students develop valuable lifelong skills such as organisation, time management, preparation, resilience and the ability to perform under structured conditions. These are important skills that will support students throughout their future education, training and careers.
We encourage all students to prepare thoroughly by revising consistently, maintaining healthy routines, and seeking support from their teachers where required. It is important that students approach their exams with a positive mindset and do their very best.
I would also like to thank our teaching staff for their continued support and preparation of students throughout the semester, ensuring they are well equipped and confident heading into the examination period.
Year 12 VCE students will complete their Unit 3 exams in the final week of Term 2. This is an important opportunity for Year 12 students to check their progress and understanding in all their subjects, and identify any areas for improvement as part of their preparation for their final SACs and exams coming up in Unit 4.
New Uniform Item - VUSC Puffer Jacket with hood
The College Board has recently approved the addition of an optional black puffer jacket with VUSC logo and hood to our uniform range. The jacket will be available from PSW later this year at a cost of $119 including GST. Students are advised that this jacket must be worn over the blazer, not instead of the blazer, so please ensure you purchase the correct size to allow for this extra layer.
Congratulations
A huge congratulations to our Senior Boys U18 Rugby League team who will be playing in the Storm Cup Grand Final after beating Melton Secondary College 38-20 in the semi final this week! This is a wonderful achievement and has been six months in the making. The group are a very committed and connected team who have worked exceptionally hard to refine their craft and as a result have now have earnt themselves the opportunity to be the number 1 ranked team in Victoria.
The Grand Final game will be played on Thursday June 25 at 7:00pm at Seabrook Reserve, Goulburn St Broadmeadows. We would love as many families, staff and students as possible to be in attendance to support the team. Congratulations to coaches Mr Adam and Mr Dikranis on this fantastic achievement. Go VUSC !!!!
Our college also congratulates three of our staff members - Beverly Baka, Luisa Fletcher and Sue McFerran - who have been recognised by the Department for 40 years of service to education. We thank these staff immensely for their dedication and commitment to students over so many years.
Year 10 Careers Panel Event
The Careers team will be hosting our annual Year 10 Careers Panel event on Thursday 18th June from 1.45 – 3.00pm at our Senior Campus in Cairnlea.
On that day we will have representatives from a range of professions and industries to help students consider their options, when making their senior subject selections.
Participants will be organised into panels aligned with occupational fields and/or subject areas. Each panellist will speak about their background and career pathway, and students will be given an opportunity to ask questions to make informed decisions regarding their subject choices for 2027.
If you are in the workforce and you would be interested in sharing your career experiences with our students, please contact Ms Kristy Muratore, Careers Coordinator on 8312 0200. Please see the invitation attached below.
Year 12 Formal
The Year 12 Formal was held on Friday 22nd May. It was a fabulous event and a wonderful celebration for our graduating students. Our students were exceptionally well behaved throughout the evening and demonstrated our school values of Respect Yourself and Others and Strengthen the Community in the way they conducted themselves and supported one another.
Students looked both handsome and beautiful dressed for the occasion, creating a memorable and enjoyable atmosphere for all in attendance. The student and staff awards were a highlight of the evening, recognising the achievements and contributions of many members of our school community. Another standout feature of the night was the music provided by our talented DJ, our very own music teacher, Liam Krebs, who ensured the dance floor remained full all evening.
A sincere thank you to Walter Bird, Kimberley Charles, Liam Krebs and Brooke Moncur for their hard work and organisation in ensuring the evening was such a tremendous success for everyone involved.
Senior Music Soiree
The Senior Music Soirée was held on Thursday 14 May in Building H at the Senior Campus, where all our students truly shone. Whether singing solo, performing in the band, or simply playing an instrument, every student performed with professionalism and confidence. Our music students and department continue to demonstrate what an outstanding team they are, maintaining high expectations and inspiring every student involved in music to rise to those standards.
A huge thank you to our amazing music staff for their dedication, encouragement and ongoing support of our students and music program.
We look forward to the Junior Music Soiree on Tuesday 23rd June at 5.00pm at the Junior Campus. We invite our school community to come along and listen to our amazing young performers.
Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea
On Thursday 21st May, our staff held the Biggest Morning Tea at lunch time and raised over $1000 for the Cancer Council! Thank you to our generous teachers and education support staff who donated and brought food to share. There was plenty to choose from, and whether staff baked something themselves or made a quick visit to the supermarket or bakery, every contribution was genuinely appreciated and helped make the event a great success.
I would like to wish all of our students and families a wonderful and restful break over the holidays. I look forward to seeing all of our students return on Monday 13th July for the start of Term 3.
