From The President

A message from the Kilvonian Alumni Committee President, Sarah Lim (Class of 2003)

Dear Kilvonians

As 2024 draws to a close, I take this opportunity to reflect on key moments that defined the alumni calendar.

A personal highlight was the first year of the Alumni Choir. This group is made up of past students covering several decades with students from the 1960s right through to 2020s.

The choir meets every Monday night during term time to rehearse. We have had the opportunity to performance alongside current students performing Nella Fantasia and the Parting Glass at the Concerto Concert and the Annual Concert which beautifully showcased the connection between past and present generations of our School.

The choir also performed Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen at the Concerto Concert. The choir is conducted by industry legend David Ashton-Smith OAM and accompanied on the piano by the very talented staff member Kay Cai.

Our legendary panelists

In October, we held the all-peer Kilvonian Konnections ‘Legends’ event. Attendees were privileged to hear from a panel of four iconic former staff members including Mr Jon Charlton, Ms Julie Lotherington, Dr Leonie Lloyd and Ms Christine Lower.  This event was masterfully moderated by former student and staff member Ms Clare Mackie (Class of 2004) and allowed the panel to share inspiring stories of gratitude, resilience, and joy. Their reflections resonated deeply, reminding us of the inherent Kilvington values, and their stories brought about many laughs. It was so lovely to catch up with so many of you.

This year we trialled a new Kilvonian event which involved a night out at the Regent Theatre to see Sister Act The Musical. This was a high energy musical that brought lots of joy. Thank you to all who joined us in making it a memorable evening.

Our monthly Walking Club has continued throughout the year which offers an informal but meaningful way to catch-up. Finally, committee members have started to pop into some reunions to meet more of our wonderful community. It is always a privilege to hear about your stories while celebrating the friendships formed over the time spent at Kilvington.

To the Class of 2024, congratulations on completing your secondary studies! We are thrilled to welcome you into the broader alumni community, and we look forward to seeing you at various events. Remember that completing your formal education with Kilvington is not a farewell, rather, it is the start of a new chapter in your connection to the School. We wish you all the best as you receive your results, and we look forward to hearing about what you get up to.

Looking ahead, we are busy planning an exciting lineup for 2025. We welcome any ideas you may have and look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming alumni events. Your engagement and creativity are what keeps our community thriving!

On behalf of the Alumni Committee, I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for your continued support and participation.

Warm regards

Sarah Lim (Class of 2003)
