Harry - Wellbeing Dog

Harry - Wellbeing Dog
Harry is back again for 2026. He just celebrated his 2nd birthday and is ready for a big year of learning ahead. His first day back last week was so much fun. He was keen to see everyone as they arrived to school, although the basketballs, soccer balls and down balls definitely prove to be a distraction, he just loves chasing or chewing them so much!!
He visited some classes and practised listening to some of the adults that work with him through the day. He did manage to get his little mouth on a tennis ball and one of his chew toys later in the day, and he is very sorry that both did not last long...
This year we hope to see Harry settle into his work role more frequently, with more class visits through his day, staying longer in the classes as a calming influence on our students, supporting them in their learning, as well as observing and spending time in the yard with everyone before school, at recess and lunch and after school and he will also have some special visits to school assemblies. He loves the attention and all the pats and hopes to be able to visit 2 days a week as the year goes on.
Please remember to always ask the adult that is with him before you approach for a pat, as they may be working on some skills with him and need him to focus on the instructions first. They have his favourite treats on hand and he will be on his lead through the day, even if he is overly confident in knowing where he wants to go!
If you have your own dogs that come to drop off or pick up students, please be mindful to keep near the fences/gates so as to minimise the risk of incident between animals. We have some students that are less keen of dogs and barking can be distressing.
Harry loves other dogs but as part of our risk management and policy, we ask not to have other animals onsite at the same time. Thank you for understanding.
Harry looks forward to seeing you again later this week.
