JSSATIS basketball commenced on 6 August, with the College represented in both the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 rosters.  Teams have had some great games so far, and are building in confidence and team work.

Thanks to students Fran Steed (Yr 8) who is coaching the Year 3/4 students; Christelle Ghanam (Yr 7) and Evie Bosworth (Yr 10), who are also helping out at training.  Thanks also to Zoe Levett, from the Basketball Tasmania Her Court Program for her valuable support of our basketball program.

We also thank Hutchins for the use of their Palfreyman Gym, so teams may enjoy some home games.

We hope the players enjoy the season, regardless of whether they are experienced or just trying basketball for the first time.

The Year 9/10 Football team are enjoying their Division 2 SSATIS roster.  The opening game was a scramble to find enough players, but thankfully Friends’ shared some players, and whilst the match was recorded as a forfeit, the girls enjoyed a competitive match.

In the team’s second match against St Mary’s, it was a case of missed opportunity, with the final result going to St Mary’s 4.9 (33) - 7.2 (44).  Improving every match, the team fought hard against Friends’ last week turning a half time deficit into a 15 point win.  Good luck to the team in their remaining game in a fortnight.
