Captains Corner

This week in Captains Corner ......
Sport report – 9 May 2025
In the morning the Rounders team was ready to face Glen Waverley South Primary. Rounders, Soccer and Netball all jumped on a bus together. We got off the bus ready to face the next challenges ahead of us. We warmed up and had an amazing match but ended up losing. Although we lost, we had immense fun. There was lots of great sportsmanship from both schools. There were great plays and a ton of communication going through the teams.
Highvale’s soccer players marched off the bus onto Brentwood Reserve. We put our shin pads and soccer cleats (spiky shoes) on and then we were ready to start the game. TWEET! The game started and after a while WE SCORED THREE TIMES! The game then ended 3-0 to us with some good plays by Jasper, Will, Caleb and Jonathan. Then we hopped back on the bus and came back to school
The year 6s and selected year 5s had interschool sports on Friday last week. I was in the Softball team. We played against Glen Waverley South Primary School. We jumped on the bus at about 9:15 am and left for the match. It was a long bus ride as the bus had the wrong address, so after what seemed like an hour of driving around, we finally arrived at Glen Waverley South Primary School. Everyone was cold but excited and determined to play. We were fielding first. We strutted onto the field ready to play. We all did well, both our fielding and batting with the result of a really close match, 8-9 home runs. Even though we lost by one, we still had a fun and exciting match that day.
The netball games last Friday’s at interschool sports day were an absolute hit! We arrived at Glen Waverley South Primary, ready to verse the other team. We came ready to play, and the energy on and off the court was amazing. Everyone gave it their all – the players showed great teamwork, skill, and loads of enthusiasm. It was awesome to see how supportive everyone was, with lots of cheering, high-fives, and good sportsmanship. Mrs Scully, our coach, was really proud of how well the students played and how positive the vibe was throughout the day. Win or lose, our team showed great Highvale spirit and had fun, which is what it’s all about. Overall, it was a fun-filled day full of action, great plays, and loads of amazing hits.
