🤸 Gymnastics
Over the past two weeks, students have been lucky enough to attend gymnastics sessions at Manningham DISC and have absolutely loved the experience. Each session has been filled with excitement, energy and plenty of opportunities for students to challenge themselves and try something new.
Working in small groups, students have been developing their balance, coordination, strength and confidence as they move through a variety of gymnastics activities. They have enjoyed carefully balancing along beams, swinging and climbing the ropes like Tarzan, practising somersaults, launching themselves onto trampolines and exploring different ways their bodies can move.
It has been wonderful to see students encouraging their teammates, celebrating each other’s achievements and showing resilience when learning tricky new skills. Students have been building confidence in their abilities while having lots of fun and creating memorable experiences together.
🌱 STEM – Living things and life cycles
This term, students have been diving into the fascinating world of living things and discovering how animals grow, change and survive. This learning has been beautifully connected across both English and STEM, where students have been reading, discussing, researching and sharing their knowledge about a range of animals.
Students have particularly enjoyed investigating the life cycles of frogs, butterflies and wasps. They have explored the different stages of each animal’s development and discovered the incredible transformations that occur throughout their lives. Students have enjoyed comparing these life cycles, identifying similarities and differences, and building their understanding of how each living thing has unique features and processes that help it thrive in its environment.
It has been wonderful to see students’ curiosity grow as they ask thoughtful questions and become little scientists, eager to learn more about the world around them.

Over the past two weeks, our Grade 1 and 2 students have been exploring and creating their own hybrid texts. They learnt about the key features of hybrid texts, which combine elements of narrative and informative writing, including the use of paragraphs, headings, dot points and factual information. Students embraced the challenge of applying these new skills to create their own pieces of writing and thoroughly enjoyed learning about this exciting new text type.
