Athletics Carnival

After two postponements due to poor weather, the third time was definitely lucky for the Tenterfield High School Athletics Carnival, with students finally taking to the track and field for a fantastic day of competition, participation and school spirit. Students competed with determination and enthusiasm across all events, making the day a huge success.

A major highlight of the carnival was the announcement of the 2026 Age Champions and Runners-Up, recognising the outstanding performances of students across all age groups. Congratulations to the following students:

Congratulations also to April Van Dyk, who twice in two years, set a new school record in the 14 Years Girls High Jump with a jump of 1.45m, surpassing the previous record of 1.39m set by Sophie Cooper in 2011.

The highlight of the Athletics Carnival was undoubtedly the Jackson Clarke Memorial Sprint. This thrilling race showcased the fastest athletes in each age group competing over 100 meters, alongside the next three quickest runners from the carnival, all in a staggered start format. Both the boys’ and girls’ races delivered heart-stopping finishes, proving to be a favorite among the crowd.

This event honours former School Captain Jackson Clarke, who was not only an exceptional male role model within the school community but also a gifted and fiercely competitive 100m sprinter.

Congratulations to the winners Tayah & Finlay and well done to Ava, Kody, Pippa & Isaac who finished closely in second and third place. Once again, we were honoured to have Sue and Carissa in attendance to present the winners with their trophy.
