Foundation to Year 3 Swimming Program Update

Our Foundation to Year 3 students have made a fantastic start to their swimming program at MSAC this week. It has been wonderful to see students building confidence in the water, developing their swimming skills and embracing the opportunity to learn in a new environment.

A particular highlight came today when the team at MSAC contacted me to share how impressed they have been with our students. They commented on the excellent behaviour, positive attitudes and respectful manner demonstrated by SKiPPS students throughout the program. We are incredibly proud of the way our students have represented the school and would like to congratulate them on the outstanding start they have made.

Water Safety Day Reminder - Thursday

Tomorrow's lesson will focus on water safety. As part of this session, MSAC has asked that all students wear some light clothing over their bathers while participating in the lesson. A t-shirt and shorts that can get wet would be perfect.

Thank you to our staff, parent volunteers and families for supporting the program. We look forward to another great day of learning in and around the water tomorrow.

Year 4 to Year 6 Swimming Program - Starts Next Week

A reminder to families that the Year 4 to Year 6 Swimming Program will take place next week at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC).

Swimming is an important part of the Victorian Curriculum and provides students with valuable opportunities to develop swimming technique, water safety knowledge and confidence in the water. Students will travel to and from MSAC by tram each day and participate in a 45-minute lesson delivered by qualified instructors.

Please ensure that all medical and swimming competency forms have been returned to your child's classroom teacher and that payment has been completed via Compass.

Please refer to the timetable below for lesson, departure and return times for each class. Families are also reminded that students will require their bathers, towel, swimming cap and goggles.

We look forward to a fantastic week of learning, skill development and water safety education

Support SKiPPS at Our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle This Sunday!

This Sunday 21 June, our wonderful SKiPPS community will be running a fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Port Melbourne, and we'd love to see you there!

Whether you're tackling a weekend DIY project, picking up something for the garden or simply looking for lunch, please drop by and grab a sausage. Every purchase helps raise valuable funds to support programs and opportunities for our students.

This event would not be possible without the generosity of local businesses who have supported our school community. A huge thank you to Alex and the team at Grain Emporium Wholesale for donating all of the bread, and to Kirkpatrick's Meats at South Melbourne Market for generously supplying the sausages.

We would also like to thank the many parents and volunteers who have given up their time to help make the day a success.

If you're in the area on Sunday, be sure to stop by, say hello and support a great cause. We look forward to seeing you there!

SKiPPS Disco Returns for 2026!

After the enormous success of our very first SKiPPS Disco last year, we are thrilled to announce that the event is back for 2026 - and it's going to be bigger and better than ever!

This year, we're taking the disco to a brand-new venue: Onesixone on High Street, where students will enjoy an unforgettable evening of music, dancing, glow sticks, special effects and a light-up dance floor. With superstar DJs DJ Sunshine and DJ Mat Gdantz providing the soundtrack, it's shaping up to be one of the highlights of the school year.

The disco will take place on Wednesday 22 July and will once again be split into two sessions:

  • Foundation to Year 2: 5:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Year 3 to Year 6: 6:30pm - 8:00pm

One exciting addition this year is a dedicated Parents' Lounge and Bar, allowing parents and carers to relax, socialise and enjoy the evening while the children hit the dance floor.

Tickets are $30 per child and include a glow stick and wristband.

Tickets go on sale this Friday! Keep an eye on Compass and your year level WhatsApp groups for booking details and further information.

A huge thank you to our amazing parent organisers and supporters, as well as TeamKids, for helping bring this exciting community event to life. We can't wait to see the dance floor packed with SKiPPS students once again!

SKiPPS Students Shine at Regional Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to Kat C (5M) and Parker M (5M), who today represented SKiPPS at the Regional Cross Country Championships held at the beautiful Hastings Foreshore Reserve.

Reaching this level of competition is an outstanding achievement in itself. Both students earned their place at the regional finals by successfully progressing through the District and Division championships, placing them among the very best young distance runners in South East Victoria.

Competing against fields of approximately 80 students from schools across the region, both Kat and Parker produced exceptional performances, finishing just outside the top ten in their respective events. While this meant they narrowly missed qualification for the State Championships, they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

To advance through three levels of competition and compete so strongly against the region's best runners is a testament to their determination, resilience and commitment to training. Throughout the day, both students represented SKiPPS with pride, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and perseverance.

We congratulate Kat and Parker on their fantastic achievement and look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in future years.

Support SKiPPS and Receive a Tax Deduction

As we approach the end of the financial year, many families are beginning to organise their tax affairs and book appointments with their accountant. This can be a timely opportunity to consider making a donation to St Kilda Park Primary School's Building Fund or Library Fund.

Donations to both funds are fully tax deductible and provide a valuable way to support our school while also reducing your taxable income. Contributions to these funds help us maintain and improve our facilities, enhance learning spaces, and continue to invest in resources that benefit all students.

Every donation, large or small, makes a meaningful difference and helps us provide the high-quality learning environment that our community values so highly.

If you would like to make a donation, or simply discuss how our Building and Library Funds operate, please contact Nova Whitehead, our Business Manager, at nova.whitehead@education.vic.gov.au or call the school office on 8589 6444. Tax-deductible receipts will be provided for all donations.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and our students.
